So if these sensitive topics aren’t shown then you’re basically saying we should not be aware that they can happen to people. This character probably gives other victims something to relate to. You’re fair in your opinion, but then so am I. If one cannot handle media like this then don’t watch it otherwise if you had watched Berserk you would’ve coiled at the plot. These types of Arguments have heavily impacted American media and pretty much Babified them. I hate it.

The art of HnK manga is great. The art in HnK anime is great. They're both different but excel in their mediums. The manga has superb use of negative space and each page pozes with melancholy and loneliness, the likes of which I've never seen in any other manga. The CGI in the anime is leagues beyond its contemporaries and has been cited by every anime critic on what good CGI should be.

I will praise this series even if heaven and hell flipped over. However the only reason I don't (keyword) strongly oppose the weird stuff is because the series wasn't about the weird stuff. If one can get through it and see what this series is it's fantastic. That isn't to say I don't oppose I only say I don't oppose it 'strongly' because the part of myself that I'll call 'Agressive Menace' has been put to sleep by myself because it came up way too often. I do agree with you however, it's problematic and I'll keep loving it anyways, just won't recommend it to friends blindly.

One thing I think doesn't get talked about enough in HnK is the world building. Some of the concepts Ichikawa uses for the story somehow are so fantastical and stylized and fits so perfectly with the aesthetics without ever putting too much of a strain on our suspension of disbelief. She's an incredible artist with such a unique style owing to her unique background, but man is she also one hell of a writer.

7:48 - 7:50 no idea why but this part literally made me laugh, but it did. Miki's personality is described almost like a "princess" well...to me. We see that in a few scenes she gets emotional to reveal as if she is innocent (the scene when shoya is called out in elementary school, bridge scene, and this one). Also see that she wants people to favor her ex: Satoshi. Also SPOILER I'm not sure if this has anything to do with but also in the Manga she states that she's always wanted to be "a good role model or stand out". I think, *THINK*, her princess character is evidence of that. I guess in order to protect that facade she has, or reputation she'll try to act innocent. I can't blame her I'm guilty of that also.

I am 34 and always wondered what this manga is about. So I read it last weekend. Lost many many brain cells. Except for Yasu everyone in this story is insufferably dramatic, dumb or boring. Btw, I grew up in a very neglecting, abusive and narcissistic family and I did NONE of the stupid things these characters did. NONE. NEVER. You must be some special kind of dumb if you can relate, especially to Hachi. I was actually sure that there would be some drugs involved with all that rock n roll theme. And was somehow disappointed that it wasn't. Their stupid immature actions would have made at least some sense.

Spoilers: In the final book of monster season, it is revealed that the charms he was selling were originated by Gaen's daughter (an oddity reflecting her self-inferiority). How Kaiki is connected to her is something that it is never revealed, but my theory is that by spreading them he assists Gaen in having a role as the leader of the specialists. That does not mean he is not doing bad things, but it implies that he always helps people through underhanded or indirect ways.

During the pandemic, throughout most of 2020 and 2021, I would ride my bike long distance. Like, long distance as in 30-40 miles out, spend a couple hours in a neighboring city, and 30-40 miles back in a single day. Sometimes it would take me 10-12 hours to make a single trip. One time I even set up a tent and spent the night at a campsite in the middle of nowhere. I did it all alone. Those were the times that got me through the pandemic, the moments where I actually felt like I was alive. I watched yuru camp in 2022 and I was so, so happy to see rin doing all these things (albeit on a moped rather than a bicycle). I wish I could do that with my friends nowadays- though sadly I don’t think even I have the physical capacity to do it anymore. Maybe I should get a motorbike, like shimarin…

As someone who read the novel, I was so confident that Kumiko will be chosen. Then KyoAni went ahead and broke my heart. To quote Kanade, "That and my frustrations are entirely two different things." I am frustrated and after that speech made me speechless. Looking back, I now understand Yuuko.

* My comment will touch spoiler territory both for Clannad and Sound! Euphonium * Even if to take into account quantum physics of sorts, or even making magic a canon and a logical part of Clannad's world, the ending, to me, is still unfatisfying. Why? Because it is the "easy" solution. That is the exact reason why I liked the major change made to Sound! Euphonium's 3rd season: Mayu getting to play the Soli, rather than Kumiko, as in the light novel - because it challenges all the values and beliefs of all the main characters, and put them all to the test. Same goes with Clannad. Obviously, that is only my opinion. If sticking to the theme of family, support and dealing with loss thymatics, a realistic and fitting endig could have been Tomoya starting a new life and family with Kyou (especially after episode 23 which shows how they met), be it with Ushio surviving or not. I assume Nagisa would find it to be the best outcome for Tomoya as well, instead of brooding again, and becoming even more similar to his father. P.S I never liked Nagisa and Tomoya's dynamic or relationship/ marrige. The two OVAs are what make the Clannad magic, for myself, at least.

This video, even though it only appeared to me in 2024, easily managed to be one of the best I've ever seen in my entire life. Hibiki Euphonium manages to be one of the best works within what it proposes, it is an anime that you can have a mix of emotions, tension, relief, happiness and even sadness, I myself have seen myself in several moments of the work because of very complex and emotional moments, it is not a work that I want to forget any time soon in my life, I think it is incredible that little by little it is influencing my life, the feeling of wanting to improve and find something you like may take time and for me it has already taken a lot, this video even after 6 years of its release is a work of art as already said and one of the phrases that caught me during these 20 minutes of pure mix of emotions was "the lazy girl finding willpower". I can't put into words how much this anime brings me peace, no other has managed to do so, I feel that every time I see something related to Hibiki Euphonium I end up crying, it is a very human and genuine work in the characters' thoughts. I want to be a better person just for having seen this work.

Clannad was good enough to stand on it's own legs, it didn't need the weird typical japanese short novel "Time travel/Super weird supernatural history robot backstory just to try to make things even more interesting". Someone should actually make a video about that, who made the decision to change this sweet heartbreaking relatable story and add weird robots and timeskips that made sense to no one?

Honestly i never ever saw Shouya as a bully here. In fact in the whole class he was treating her the most normal way a person can do. Teasing her, tripping her over, throwing lights stuffs at her, writing about her in boarda and notebook, shouting close to her and casually making fun of her. Tell me isn't this the most normal way we behave with our own friends? Also Shoko seems to like it as well as she wanted others to treat her normally and play with her like friends do and probably that is why she always wanted to be Shouya's friend as she sees in him the most closest one to normality. Well even Shouya wanted to befriend with her as per manga, but he couldn't understand anything she said which led him to think of her as some alienated person. Shouya himself was always in need of his friends as he was afraid of being alone so he tries everything to make his classmates amuse. This is what led him to throw or break the hearing aids as even the whole class enjoyed it and he being a clown would want to use anything to make his audience laugh. When he goes up to return the notebook to Shoko and later die, he eventually says her to befriend with him to which even he was surprised which clearly states that he always wanted to be her friend. The reason why people hate Kawaii is because she first makes Shoko embarrassed in front of others and later makes herself a hero and help Shoko. Its like creating a problem which never existed and being a solution to it. While Shouya genuinely did things with her like his normal friends and Shoko felt that as well and that is why in the manga we can see that when adult Shouya asks her to befriend, she too grabs his hand and affirms her approval. And for Ueno's case, people dislike her for her personality but forget that it was always she who helped Shoko in writing her notes due to which her own grades got affected. The problem was with the school and its faculties who even after admitting a deaf child, never made any special arrangements for her to get along with others. Forget about arrangements, they never even cared to teach the children about such disabled persons and how to approach them and help them, yet about those expensive equipments they use which is Shouya had no idea what those hearing aids were and what consequences could it lead to abruptly pulling it out of Shoko's ears. Without such knowledge how do we expect students to deal with it. Shouya in an attempt to befriend with her, tried all forms of interaction only to get something out of her mouth but fails and eventually led him to hate her. Ueno not being appreciated for her efforts to help Shoko study and the fact that she sees Shouya(the guy she likes because of some events written in mange) getting closer to Shoko that even she started hating her. The rubbish teacher himself was the first one to blame as he himself sees Shoko as a burden and will always turn his head towards the board while explaining because of which Shoko couldn't read his lips and would wonder what to study. Ueno ofc helped her even here as well. The teacher's certain actions in the manga made clear to even the students that he too was irritated of Shoko and it is normal for them to feel as well. Lastly, blaming only Shouya for everything who was even ready to raise his hand thinking about his mom's hard work to earn a living. Imagine a small boy thinks about all these and was declared evil bully by everyone leading him to self hatred, loneliness and wanting to kill himself. Thanks for reading and i hope now everyone understands that Shouya isn't and was never a bad child. His surroundings made him unaware of his actions ❤

Forgot to add one more instance where he genuinely told Shoko that if she doesn't change then everyone will rull her out or get bored of her. His motive was actually good and he wanted her to speak for herself and yet seeing again those hand signs and smile he got agitated again and lashes at her with sand. Good intentions but bad understanding can even make a real man look evil.
