Why you calling it a VVT? It's a timing chain bro. Means you need a timing chain job done. The VVT is the solenoid or the phaser sprocket. You shouldn't be working on Mazdas man. Seriously though when you say your VVT is hitting the valve cover makes you sound like a noob. VVT ( variable valve timing) it's a system not a part. There are several parts to a VVT system such as timing chain and tensioner, VVT phaser also called Cam phaser , VVT selanoid. That slack wasnt even that bad, I've seen worse. Can't wait to see you change a VVT 😂😂😂 you need a timing job not a VVT job. Your chain is overstretched and tensioner fully extended , meaning timing job!! May as well change the VVT selanoid and phaser while you are there. May want to let a pro do the timing bc im not sure I'm confident that you can handle it. Its actually pretty complicated if you dont know what your doing. It requires special cam and crank tools and things must be done in a proper order. You may wanna watch a video on MZR timing.

Tech tip , that other wire is the fuel module ground and the third wire is usually fuel gauge dash ground i think ? At least on my 07 silverado

You cant check chain tensoin without the car being at TDC. Also vvt has nothing to do with chain tension, you arent a mechanic and havent solved a problem, just given people false ways to diagnose problems that arent there

The trick was to put it in Neutral I didn't know that and don't recall reading it in the booklet, Thank you very much it's all good again.

Bro I had the same issue on my 2015 tahoe, You just saved my life, I just clean the ground wire and got my 4x4 back

problems with chevy's is usually bad grounds. you will want to get that marrette out of there though, that is meant for house electrical. replace it with a heat shrink butt connector, and you'll be fine. those marrettes are not waterproof and you will run into this issue over and over. cheers

My problem I just had. Picked up a 2500HD 2005, I was in the parking lot and thought about clicking the 4Hi button. Did its thing and it worked, then the service 4wd light came on, and now it’s stuck! It won’t get out of 4wd hi. Not 2wd, no 4lo . I did it in neutral, in drive, in park. Went around the block and nothing! Just stopped working. The 4wd light is on, but the 2wd button and 4lo won’t flash when I push it! No motor sounds of it changing or nothing, just stuck in 4wd hi

Tip I learned the hard way, always remove the dip sticks of any pans you are removing. Often when put back on the sticks will get caught in pan or whatever and then be stuck or broken.

I blew mine with a bad MAF sensor and #1 is 180, #2 is 185, #3 is 0, #4 is 50. Im going to build mine now. Thanks brothas for showing how its done.

My Truck won’t go back into 2wd😪

My 2005 envoy 5.3 v8. Startup pressure okay. Within 1min pressure at 40 steadily drops to 0-5 with slight tick if I don’t rev idle. It continues to do this UNTIL coolant temp reaches 200 degrees… oil pressure stabilizes 20-25 always. Which is opposite for many. Parking the vehicle on a downhill slope seems to fix the issue so it’s seeming like o ring on the tube? If anyone has insight or similar prob? I’m all ears!

Guys if you’re doing this DO NOT FORGET THE LOCTITE!!! These bushings can vibratelose very easily but a drop of blue loctite could save you from losing your shifting

What a world. I'm the guy that bought your Mazda3 off you years ago. Was having oil pressure issues in my 04 Silverado and stumbled across this. My issue was 2in of sludge in the pan but this video was still very helpful. Only thing I'd add is make sure the pick up is actually seated into the oil pump. Mine wouldn't go in and I ended up having to tear it back apart. Good video!

Can anybody tell me what would cause the opposite of what he was having problems with my issue is just recently my 2 Wheel drive I had to put in four-wheel-drive to get unstuck and now I can only go in four wheel high, four wheel low or all wheel, but it won’t let me put it into any suggestions

yea chain tensioner bad not vvt , the vvt is the intake cam pulley . and can not cause a loose chain .

Do you remove any of the fuel pump relays first before cranking the car?

I have been having the same issue as the video. Light blinks but won't engage. My wire terminations were fine, but after removing the bolts from the frame and cleaning up the surface and replacing with new hardware, my 4wd is now working great just in time for winter. Thanks for the video!

Thanks, hope this saves my truck. The rear brakes and drums need to be replaced (road salt and rusting out) but if I can solve the 4WD issues I won't kunk the truck.
