Really doesn't get much better than that, a pair of large logo hoovers wide open up Shap! I saw the pair at Preston and the driver thrashed the hell out of them right next to where I was stood, made a great noise with the echoey acoustics of Preston station

Very good Carl , well done for covering the miles 👍On a side note you were lucky not to be asked to leave your 1st location at Salterwath as the farmer doesn’t want enthusiasts on his land anymore after someone left a gate open. 😟

@@TheStephengthompson I had noticed a no entry sign on the usual gate in which ironically was wide open ! . Thankfully no sign. Can't really blame him .always someone spoils it for the rest of us . Thanks mate . Hope you had a good day too . Love a fast car chase , just like the old days . If I had been mega greedy I think I could of slipped another one in of the 40 at Newsholme !

OMG, these drivers need to stop playing with the horn toggle and stick to locating the power handle and drive the engines! TOO MUCH HORN

They can do both, they don't need to hold on to the power handle all the time as long as they keep the DSD pedal pressed

About 90% of the horn use in this video was for whistle boards, and seeing people on the crossings associated with the whistle boards.

Sounds a treat doesn't it and so healthy. Only certain Peaks used to sound as good as that back in the day , with almost a straight through exhaust , a lack of baffles . 45102, 106, 108,110, 114, 126 sounded superb almost 40 years ago now !

Absolutely spot on that was, two EE classics both with incredible thrash. I saw them at Crewe and Warrington Bank Quay this morning and they were both in fine form there too.

@@theretrocrowe yes, West Coast seem to enjoy thrashing the back locos these days ..which really spoils it as the 40 is more than capable of digging in and climbing through there .

Oh yes , good old load 12 on the old Newquay -Newcastle for example ! 118 went over the top at 25 mph . Not bad at all for about load 10 and a standing start
