@ 5:30. Mistake. No one during a war and night time blackout would be standing with lights blazing and curtains open on a balcony in Berlin or London

This movie was great, but it’s the one movie that I wish Christopher Nolan had directed. Would have been fascinating to see how he weaves different timelines together into this true story.

To think that it was less than 80 years ago that people where gassed in camps, beheaded and hanged on thin wires so they would suffer more in Europe wakes you up. Barbaric conditions are not as far away from the current day as we think, and history is not that hard to repeat if we don't stand up against rightwing politics.

I keep coming back to this scene over and over again for Beck’s death. A lot of generals and officers like him from before Hitler took power stepped down because they were always against the Nazis. We all know the nazis were racists, monsters and murderous maniacs. But even before that, they were one thing in particular above all else. THUGS. GANGSTERS. Absolutely everything honourable officers who truly believed in patriotism and the fatherland were totally against. Beck’s last words echo that he joined the army as ‘an officer and a gentleman’ and the nazis were anything but.

Interesting fact about the judge who sentenced the conspirators: Roland Freiseler used to be a communist. He even became a member of the Russian Communist Party when he was a POW during WW1, and Hitler was well aware about his past. He even called him a "stout bolshevik” in private conversations.

That judge on that show / fake court scene was Roland Friesler. He was killed bombing raid to courthouse then bomb hit column and portion of it fell down in him crushing him to death instantly. Source: Wikipedia. That show court was called Peoples Court or Volksgerichtshof.

Hollywood: When conservative military men and aristocrats get together to carry out a coup d'état against a democratically elected power, it goes wrong and everyone is very moved by the response of that State. And as icing on the cake, we insult the judge who is responsible for judging them. Good movie, lousy audience.

The mistake von stauffenberg made was to not make the bomb with an trigger and walk up to Hitler and trigger the bomb himself. He would have died, but everyone else would have lived.

Never thought a movie could make me empathize with Germans during WW2 but I suppose you can make the argument that they weren't truly Nazi's, rather just regular nationalists who wanted someone/something better for their country

The whole point of films like this are to GET people to learn some history. You won’t discover fascinating facts from the past watching Star Wars 16 or the latest comic-book inspired dreck; Valkyrie isn’t meant to be an exhaustively researched documentary.
