It really depends. Honestly the best person to ask is your local pro shop because they know a lot about the game. The sublime might be too strong for someone who throws a slower shot with high revs but might work for someone who throws low revs low speed or high revs high speed.

Hi! I am very happy to hear that you are picking up the game of bowling! I work in a pro shop, so I deal with this question quite a bit. As long as budget is not in question, any ball could be your first ball. At the end of the day, its a stronger, hybrid symmetrical on the market at the moment and its a damn good ball. Especially if your purpose at the moment is for this to be something fun to do, then go for it! I've sold many higher end balls for people who wanted them as their first ball and they're having just as much fun as if they had a lower end ball! If you like the look of the Sublime, then go for it!

@@bowlersvault oh OK. I was wondering, because some of the pros like Chris Barnes and Stu beef Stu Williams talk on their podcast, they do talk about the thumb that sometimes Stu Williams grabs the heck out of his thumb if he wants to hook the ball more..he said a lot of pros grab the thumb to create more hook, it’s not always relaxed, so that’s why I was just wondering.. I have tried grabbing the thumb more and it definitely does make the ball hook early

@bowlersvault
@bowlersvault 5 ай бұрын
Not sure where the information is coming from about VLS being better than Dual Angle. They both do the same exact thing. Instead of degrees, you work with inches. Really is the only difference. If Dual Angle is easy for you, great dude. Every layout system that is widely used in the industry is easy for me. I still use Dual Angle for customers from time to time.

I think if you knock that Reacta Gloss off with a light hit of a 3K CTD pad, you may get just a little more continuation through the pins to carry the corners. VEBO is definitely the ball to go to in transition. I was actually picking up my Hustle M-M a few weeks ago when my PSO was taking pre-orders for the VEBO... I just rolled a 289 with the Hustle a few days ago after knocking off the shine with a 3k CTD pad.

Hi Martez, I am not too sure what you mean by standard drilling. Feel free to expand on that. I am assuming you mean putting the pin above the bridge or pushing the pin to the right of the ring finger (for right handed players). Basically your two “standard” layouts. There is a huge advantage using dual angle. You can fine tune the ball 10x more for players or yourself. I would recommend using some type of layout system in order to drill the ball the way you want the motion to look. Again, it’s more of a fine tuner.

Athery's chart is a useful tool for determining ballpark values for a given set of bowler metrics in the dual angle layout system. In a very real sense, this chart is the foundation of the system. This basically allows you to easily and consistently calculate the median or "benchmark" layout for a given bowler style, on a typical house shot. All other layouts originate from this initial calculation. Note: on symms, the distance from the center of thumbhole to the PIN is a significant variable. 6.75" is minimum RG and max diff. All other values increase the RG of the X-axis and consequently reduce total diff.

Can you also show how the ball react on the lane after drilling your layout. It would be easier to understand how a ball roll when you do a specific layout.
@bowlersvault
@bowlersvault 9 ай бұрын
I understand where you are coming from, however I do not see the value in showing what it looks like after creating a layout video. Everyone throws it differently, factors of the house/lanes, etc. If it were to be a comparison video, then absolutely whether that be a comparison between bowling balls or layouts. Having me throw a ball after I drill it up during a layout video wouldn’t do any justice. Sure, it will give you a decent look, but not to the entirety that it needs to be to fully push the concept. If you wish to see how a ball rolls after a layout, I recommend watching Storm’s Pin Buffer video series. There are three parts to the series, and each video explains how different pin-to-paps, psa-to-paps (in this case because it’s a dual angle video it would be called the Drilling Angle), and pin buffers (in this case it would be the VAL angle because of Dual Angle) look with three different drilling patterns.

The VLS layout system not only is a faster layout system, but will also come out to the same Pin-to-Pap, Drilling Angle, and Val coordinates as Dual Angle. There is a converter that exists. To be frankly honest, they both do the exact same thing and the outcome is the exact same as long as you convert the angles to arcs or arcs to angles. Dual Angle is a great system, but VLS has less variables. Less time=more work flow
@JoeBrrFan

@bowlersvault

It’s a lot of information which is understandable. If you understand what ball flare is and how it affects hook (ex. more flare = more hook), and that a pin buffer arc (the third arc of the layout) below 3 1/2 will create a smoother roll vs a pin buffer higher than 3 1/2 will create a sharper roll (more “backend”), then layouts become super easy
