Thanks for your input ! For months I was all in on new Frontier, very quiet inside, that was nice surprise. Liked the trucky look. But winter snow and ice, going back to part time 4x4 kept gnawing at my brain. Rear end slip-sliding around, having to flick 4x4 knob on and off. For in town gray geezer not wishing to pull anything, mostly just haul an e-bike that weighs about 80 lbs with gear, the Frontier was overkill and larger turning radius, less power to the steering, not exactly optimal. In a matter of just two weeks, once I determined enough front legroom in Ridgeline, I totally switched to Ridgeline Black Edition fully loaded, is time for some coddling comfort on the roads of life. Good stereo, no fumbling with keys, cooled ventilated seats, heated steering wheel I’ve found I love when driving wife’s car. For myself, mostly FWD bias and heavy motor over those wheels, and a fully automatic solid kick in of the rear, is a good thing on snow and ice. Ridgeline sits at a really nice height, do not need a step ladder to get in. I look forward to rolling quite smoothly and with quiet roomy cabin on down the highways of life. Ridgeline looks to hit an overall sweet spot.

I'm glad you brought up the HPD package. Honda flooded their press fleet with base Sport models with HPD package and got so many KZfaq reviewers complaining about the cost and comparing it to a Tacoma for the same price. Honda really should have put the RTL-E or Black Editions for the press fleets and just sent press materials about the HPD package. Interesting how so few "journalists" mentioned these other packages and instead just pooped on the stripped down, overpriced HPD sports
@parkwayclassics8443
@parkwayclassics8443 21 күн бұрын
Exactly..... If early reviews in 21' on the "Refreshed" Ridgeline would have been on the RTL or RTLE the press and the KZfaq world would have been raving about how much value was there. But as you mentioned, Honda was releasing base sport models with the HPD package that misleads people into thinking it has added off-road prowess (which it doesn't) and it does nothing but run the price up.

Great video! Being a man who has owned 2 Toyota trucks for a total of 37 trouble free years, I do not approve of the massive turn Toyota has made. It appears that Toyota has abandoned its core base solely for profits. Presently, I’m torn between the Ridgeline and the Frontier. I don’t need a 4wd and I know the Honda is a AWD. This is a tough decision!

Well done videos Thanks Have the 23 BE. 17K miles. Run 35 psi in OEM Firestone Dest tires Maybe my imagination but at new seemed to run smoother quieter? Now seems like a lot of jarring noisy feeling. Specifically traveling asphalt with those horizontal filled in cracks .. on some roads. Roads that have no cracks all ok then Advice to smooth it out? Run 32psi?

Firestone Destination tires have a great all-season tread design but get noisier with age and dont wear anywhere as well as they'd lead you to believe. I ran a set on my previous Jeep Grand Cherokee as well as my Wife's Jeep Liberty, replaced at 40k. Only got up to 12k before I put the 20" rims with Goodyear tires on the Ridgeline so I didn't notice them getting noisy.

Timing belt is better. I've seen too many cars with time chain problems. The guides wear out and it costs significantly more to fix and replace the timing chain components than it does for a time belt. Timing belt with a couple pullies and a waterpump is typically <$1000 to pay someone else to do.

I'm enjoying watching your Ridgeline videos, just one comment - where I live and the way I drive, changing oil more often than 10k is actually wasteful, verified by analysis, which is the only way to really know. It depends radically on driving conditions (but only slightly on the quality of the oil because we're fortunate to have no bad engine oils on store shelves in the US). Same goes for filters, but even more so, since they're actually less efficient brand-new than after some miles. If you don't do many short trips, go ahead and do 10k; no point throwing your money and time away not to mention wasting the oil.

Been researching every midsize truck offering, and the Ridgeline makes the most sense for me. For the serious off roader or someone that has a need for larger towing, obviously look elsewhere. But those are the only categories Ridgeline falls short on. Functionality is superior, it’s roomier, rides nicer, and has a larger payload than some of the other mid size trucks. And you’re not going to get beat up at the gas pump.

With the light refresh of the 2024 model, do you think it is worth it to get a new 2024 vs a 2023, if there is a roughly $10k difference in price? For context, the 2023 already has just over 30k miles. I know that 2024 is slightly better, but I don't know if it is worth $10k more. But also the 30k miles in 1 year on the 2023 is a bit concerning as well.

If you're buying the 2023 from a dealer and if... and only if you can get a detailed service history on it I'd go for the 2023. I much prefer the fold-down arm rests and the center console storage on the 2023. I also don't care for RIDGELINE stamped into the Tailgate steel on 2024. Honda should have left well enough alone.

We are now on our fourth Ridgeline, all which have been purchased used with anywhere from 33 to 80,000 km. The first was a 2007 purchased in 2010, second was a 2012 touring, the third was a 2020 touring and now driving a 2022 Touring. It was my wife that first wanted a Ridgeline. I was never sold on these “wanna be” trucks. We live out in a rural area and need to haul water, pull fifth wheel campers, gooseneck trailer’s therefore I drive a 3/4 or now a 1 ton pickup truck. She was determined to buy a Ridgeline and used the excuse that she seen one with a Honda quad in the back, so I could “haul mine with it if I wanted to”. Well after the first one we have enjoyed them all. The first two were driven a couple hundred thousand km each before we upgraded to a newer model. The only maintenance required, other than brakes and tires, is to get the timing belt replaced every 100,000 km(63,000 miles) to avoid a catastrophic engine failure. The third one(2020 black Touring), was to be our retirement vehicle but my wife was in an accident and wrote it off. She had a few bruises and needed to see a chiropractor but has fully recovered. The safety features of the Ridgeline are great, collision avoidance, multiple air bags all played a role to keep her safe. We are now enjoying our 2022 Touring which came with transferable OEM extended warranties as well as glass, rim & paint coverage. I have put on running boards, lockable tonneau cover, LED high beam and LED driving lights and a second set of studded winter tires. We plan to continue the activities that all the Ridgeline’s have done including towing the pontoon boat, hauling large items, traveling in comfort and whatever else is required. Great (ok, I’ll say it) truck!

Wow! what a great testimonial for the Ridgeline. I hope mine gives me such great service. Sadly for 2024 Honda eliminated the folding armrests which I love and they have stamped RIDGELINE into the tailgate steel which I don't like but it shouldn't be a deal killer for anyone.
