i had a game recently like that where i was black, 1 pawn vs 1 rook, it ended with draw by insufficient material just like that, but he took my pawn and i took his rook right after eachother.

That sounds like one of the episodes of a certain anime I can't remember. All the pieces have a mind on their own, and their are no turns. Only commands during real time.
