Met Ronny in Barcelona in 2006. He was very kind and signed all my cd's. A real gentleman. They had swopped the venue a few times, which pissed him off clearly. He tore the roof of the sucker that night (with a trio). One year later, out of shame, the organisers put him as top of the bill on the Voll Damm jazzfestival. Karma! 😗

I agree I like Norman Brown he's one one of my favorites. But he just did a live show...but in my opinion. The sound wasn't as tight or close to his sound on his CD...

What amazed me were brevity of Ronny's licks and no sign of self-indulgence often found among the elite jazz players. His musical legacy lives on.

Ronny Jordan was the first person to hear my music, when even I hadn't had the courage to show it to the world. He gave me the push I needed, and he was a guide for me. I owe you a lot, and I can never be thankful enough for his help. My name comes from one of his recordings (aftermath). I listened to it daily as I fantasized about one day being able to compose similar music. But I never imagined that I would have the honor of having Ronny as my first listener. Many of my songs are highly influenced by his music and his style. It is my small tribute to one of the greatest. Thank you Ronnie. I hope you can continue listening to my music, as I continue listening to your albums today. But sadly, I can no longer have your advices and support. A hug, teacher, master, wherever you are kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aZaHqdWQlrfMqac.html

Sounds like Norman Brown, but more Jazzy. Norman Brown has a very pronounced R&B/Soul twist.

I suppose the Brits always had more 'refined' sound compared to the US players who typically exhibited more hard edges in their playing.
@josephblow5946

@@smkim6103 I haven't listened to enough contemporary Jazz guitarists from the US and the UK to make that distinction. But in Norman Brown's case, he definitely has a hard R&B/Soul/Funk edge to his playing, even more so than other contemporary black players from the US, like Paul Jackson Jr, Earl Klugh, etc.
