In the Hip toss? Yes it is necessary In the Leg Pick? Also necessary as that is the arm that picks up the leg Or did you mean the second throw? Again it is necessary as this helps prevent them from regaining balance Hope this helps. :)

You said that people liked the version 1 Purpleheart dussack because they wanted to play instead of train dussack. Can you expand on that?
@atlantahistoricalfencing4 жыл бұрын
Basically many people do not study the sources related to Dussacks. They instead train with the Dussacks because they are fun. Now there is nothing wrong with that to me. Just I want to see more groups working through the/a source/s in Dussack and train the weapon.
@KwizzyDaAwesome4 жыл бұрын
@@atlantahistoricalfencing What I meant was do you not see the PHA V1 Dussack as historical or as less historical a training tool?
@atlantahistoricalfencing4 жыл бұрын
That's a tricky question that's probably best answered with tools in hand ;) The V1 length wise is probably historically accurate. At the shorter end for sure, but I can agree that length was there for trainers and sharps. How it is constructed is a no. Brand new ones hold up okay, and the newer models are better, but as this trainer gets older the ability to bind and even parry well diminishes. Often to the point where it's better to not try to parry. This leads to a different type of fencing than we see in the texts. If people are handy I would recommend getting the V3 nylons and making a leather sheath to put over the blade. It'll give a much better training tool. Or just buying something like the AK models.
