Great video about this amazing grevillea. I like all the info in the intro. I have a lot of grevilleas that attract honeyeaters near my house and I open my windows and take close up videos of the birds feeding on the flowers all year round.

Growing some of these trees in my yard. I haven’t had any flowers yet .. just a lot of banana tree growth 😅 it’s been almost a year so I know I’ve got atleast two more before my first real harvest.

Excellent video and information. I'm growing Sugar dragon, American Beauty, Connie Mayer, and Purple Haze grown from cuttings a little over 1 year ago. I'd like to get them to flower as soon as possible so I've been tipping and full sun.... wondering of cutting back on water will stress them out and help flower?? As an experiment, I also have a rooted Sugar Dragon Cutting about 20" long that ever time a new branch tries to grow I break it off. I'm wondering if continually doing this will stress it out to flower very soon cause if this works it would be great to do this to get single Dragon fruit branches to fruit fast to tryout the fruit before growing a huge plant. Do you think this would work or am I wasting my time?

Thanks for the video. I’m very interested in the conditions for these plant to flower and what triggers it. Knowing that temperature and fertilizer matters, but is there something else other than genetics as well. Wish I had a scientific mind like you.

I don’t believe everything Gary says about avocado growth from other than Brokaw nurseries. I know I’ve been to a few in Fallbrook the bigger ones that crazy Gary buys from and ask the workers how old are their avocado trees. The 5 gallon are 1 year after grafting the 15 gallon are late the second year. When people start trying to sell you their product beware. At Maddock the 5 gallon pots have more organic matter the 15 have more rock based materials. You can dig in the pots and see it. Also the weight is incredibly more. The 15 gallon are close to 100 pounds

Hi Paul. Just on the snails, just wrap some copper wire around the outside the pot and I'll guarantee the snails won't jump over the copper as they get an electric type shock . Just wrap old wire copper. They hate copper wire Good luck

Hey Paul, found this old vid I have a sugar dragon ripening from a similar cutting. In your experience since this video was shot, do cuttings produce generally good and representative fruit? Or has your opinion changed? I guess in the years since, has tricia produced the same type/taste?

I've been using MOAB which people use to make their marijuana flower and it produces crazy amounts of flowers. i use a teaspoon every 2 weeks. the issue i am having is that it's getting too hot here in the san gabriel valley which is causing some of me DF to sunburn

Awesomeness! I have top dressed twice this summer and have got almost 50 blooms. My issue is, none of them take. All but 1 have aborted on 4 different plants. I have tried cross pollinating with no difference. My varieties are natural mystic, American beauty and a yellow flesh. 😢

Any advice on getting the blooms to take? I am in south Florida and the heat has been relentless but I have kept them moist when it doesn't rain.
@m0ntse0020 күн бұрын
If they are too young they will not set fruit. Also. It has been raining a lot. The flower and/or pollen being wet can affect it fruiting.
