I bought some of the budget Harley Benton Tele's and they needed minimum adjustment, usually just intonation and a couple needed a little bit of filing on the nut as the strings were too high for the first fret. Most budget thinlines will be plywood and all 350, 330 series Gibsons are plywood tops. OK for a beginer as you said, I hate the neck tint, its like a cheap fake suntan, Donald Trump style! You missed loads of frets when you rocker tested them, you should only move down one fret at a time and not groups of three.

Yes I know, i got all flustered when I was on camera I actually did it right in the rehearsal. I apologize for the mistake. I hate the neck color as well, you nailed the analogy! LOL

Bought the same kit. Going to do a green crackle on it. Mine fit great also. I think I will need a slight shim also. Cannot wait to see the finished product.

It's seriously scary how cheap you can buy a guitar these days. With a bit of know how and some cash for upgraded parts, they're tempting.

I completely agree for about a two hundred dollar total investment you could have a decent gig machine.

Yes I know this is my number one complaint, I don't play them because I'm not a guitar player, I'm a builder. But I suppose i could give simple chord strums just to check the sound for you. Although I personally have never been able to judge the sound of a guitar through a youtube video. Remember its your speakers that give you the sound, so what it sounds like through my fender twin will not be what it sounds like through your amp. but i can tell you that the P90 was decent but the humbucker was very microphonic.

The way you checked with the fret rocker was incorrect. You should only advance one fret at a time. In this way each fret has the position of acting as a fulcrum. You moved to the third fret which means you actually don't know if fret number three is level in relation to fret number two and fret number four. Then you moved to fret five, thus repeating the mistake. Plenty of YT videos to show the correct way. Peace.

Your absolutely correct, I actually did it the right way the first time I checked it for rehearsal but then i get nervous when I have the camera on a flubbed it up, my apologies. I new to this youtube stuff but I'm working on it. I get more comfortable each time.

Interesting review. I bought the Strat version and was surprised at its quality and setup. Set up a new Affinity Strat with sharp fret ends, a wonky switch and jack. The Gearit was properly intonated, straight neck, rounded fret ends no fret sprout, only one slightly high fret, a good jack, no QC issues and the sound is very Straty. Its tuners are the thing to replace but given its cost locking tuners are a good buy. It is a good modding platform. Your tele seems quite similar. In that it includes a strap and tuner, spare strings and a fun little amp, it is truly a good beginner guitar and one for modding as you advance if the setup is good at purchase.

Just to add, you are certainly correct about knowing someone who can decently set it up. Out of the box the variation in QC and setup could make for a frustrating experience. Looking at the prices of comparable S and E models compared with these makes mods a worthwhile effort.

I'm definitely going to review the strat version in the future. What I've found is that with most guitars in this price range it all depends on who is qcing at the factory the day your guitar was built. You either get the person that just wants to get paid and get out of there as fast as they can or you get the person that really has a love for guitars and love their job, but it absolutely makes a difference on what leaves on what day.

Just looking on their site, the kit really doesnt match the thumbnail pic of what it will look like, the finished build pic is a string through widow headstock bc rich, look at the headstock shape up close, its wildly off, sorry but this is a LAWSUIT waiting to happen.....

@GuitarYourself1 Ай бұрын
Ok I see what you're talking about. The little thumbnail on the instruction manual pic of the black finished guitar. They have changed that but it didn't catch up on amazon. The Instruction manual that comes with the kit shows exactly what you're getting. Leo Jaymz is not even offering this kit on their website. So it looks like amazon is the only seller right now. Maybe some private sellers on ebay an such. But good eye man!

Definitely seems interesting for the low price, but it looks off. Probably a trademark thing though. My main question is why the razor at the 12th fret? That's a Dean Dime Razorback inlay, it makes absolutely no sense on a BC Rich lookalike kit.
@GuitarYourself1
@GuitarYourself1 Ай бұрын
Yeah It is off, it has to be for copyright reasons. That's why they call it a tribute. Now as for the razer on the twelfth fret? Right! I asked the same question. This is nothing more than a "We just thought it looked cool" moment. LOL!

At this price its perfect for a mod platform and gigging guitar. You didn't pay a ton for it so you don't mind it getting beat up on stage. Ya figure if you get a few years out of it you more than got your money's worth and under stage lights this thing would be a show stealer.

I got the Explorer type, and it was in fantastic shape when I got it. It was intonated and the action was good. The frets were level. The tuners and pickups are crap, but I'm getting ready to change those and it'll be good to go. It's worth way more than a little over $200. It's got stainless steel frets. The best deal I got was a Firefly Charvel copy! That thing is perfect in every way, and could easily sell for $700-$800.

Yeah It's a Steal. I got a Volgoa Red Quilt/flame HSH. for $195. Mahogony Body , Darkened maple neck -stain prob. don't think it is roasted -- .6 months ago and Its a Super Strat w/ the Rounded SS frets and a unque looking. Super Smoth Dark Composit material for fretboard. You Could replace the tuners at some point.but they work fine. -- the PUPS are good to decent - you don't need to replace them The wiring on mine is fine but some people I here might need to soder a spot -- big deal. I'd say It was very good quality for the money and really beautiful to look at . Looks Mater.

If I saw this for $500+ in a shop I think it was a bargain but as usual on Amazon "This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location (Australia). Please choose a different delivery location." Same with Fesley and others from Amazon. Oh nice! Their cherry red looks good too then boom. Excellent vid and to the point. 👍

Oh man that sucks that you can't get them through Amazon. I know that there are a select few on Ali Xpress but they are much more expensive, like the 500 - 600 dollar range. I've been lucky and had some good experiences with the Harley Benton brand but in the same breath it can be hit or miss depending on the model and which factory built the guitar. Thank you so much for the comment I really appreciate it.

Be honest, it's a piece of $hiť. Toneless pickups, fret wire that'll wear out in a matter of months, cheap horrible tuners, suspect bridge metal, 7 piece crap-wood body, junk switches and pots, plastic trem block.... Yeah, $169 guitar. Don't waste your money.
