It is a beautiful model, and your work on it has done it justice. Great build well narrated. I've only got back into modelling over the last couple of years and I'm enjoying more than I ever did. With added videos like yours and others has made my time spent on mine a real pleasure

Great video Hammerhead! Absolutely outstanding performances and skills used in those video. I’m blown away by the cockpit and the small photoetch items you had to put together. Again, great video! I have this saved to my account. I’ll be referencing this video when I do my own FW190 A8 and any aircraft for that matter! 😃

I definitely prefer the long versions of your videos. They are fun to watch. Congratulations on the beautiful Fw 190. I don't know much about Luftwaffe planes, but a friend once told me that when the limousine was moved aside, the antenna wire fell freely onto the fuselage - it was not flexible.

I live in the Lake District in the UK and we are on the training flight path for the RAF and USAF low level flight training. In the last few weeks RAF Typhoons have rattled my windows as well as Chinooks and AH64Ds flying in formation. The USAF V22 Osprey and F-15 Strike Eagles. Now all these are low level training here, some at night but the majority in the day and they make a hell of a noise. I would not want to be facing down something like the F-15 that's for sure.. I wasn't there, just a tad too far away, but there is no doubt in my mind that this Expo format was vastly superior to the standard IPMS format. I particularly like the idea that the modeler can be associated with their work and that others have an opportunity to meet the people behind the work. I think the smaller turn out in certain subject matter is more indicative of modeler's interests in general, or perhaps what they feel comfortable building. Shows / Contests that divide into categories will, by definition, give a different impression of what is popular in modeling just because of the congregation of the same types in the same area of the show. The Rocky Mountain Expo format, I believe, promotes more models being shown by each modeler, versus a category style show where a modeler may only bring a few of what they consider to be their best work. For this last reason, I think that the Expo format gives a more nuanced view of the hobby, but also presents some challenges to deal with if the show grows in participation. Challenges meaning, "Will there be enough space for everyone?" , "Will there be enough time for viewers to see everything?", "Will it be more difficult to remember a the myriad numbers of modelers one could potentially meet?". Nonetheless, this is a vastly superior format and I can only hope that IPMS will get off of it's hidebound duff and consider similar changes.
@HammerheadModelMaking
@HammerheadModelMaking 4 күн бұрын
Yeah, the overall format was very conducive to actually meeting people and talking about their work, and having been to both types of shows now I can say the Expo was way more friendly and inviting. And I agree with what you said about how many models an artist will bring, I had close to 20 models at the expo, but for the IPMS show I'm planning on attending this September, I will likely only have 5-6, There are a few things I know wont do well in the respective categories, so there isn't much incentive to bring them. As far as the challenges you bring up, those all sound like good problems to have so I'd take them any day over IPMS format! Cheers mate!

Brilliant build dude! Love it! 190 is one of my faves. When it comes to Luftwaffe RML colours is un like most nations there is not much in the way if documentation to know the exact colours. I find anyone calming what should be the right RML colour normally has no idea what there on about plus, and this is something they dont take in consideration that is documented is that depending on factory paint stocks are will depend on what it comes out like. They were told what the colours should be an what ratios ‘should be’ wont mean they will come out like that so there is nor real right or wrong colour also you can calm ‘its been out side along time!’ The undercarriage bays some times will be the same colour as the under side and some are a odd grey brown. Your right in the nose guns they were deleted on some to reduce the wight if these already heavy aircraft. I love eduard kits but i dont like there decals! But i have found using white spirits on a cotton bud works really well, so you can still put it on the conventional way and so you can do decals as normal then use the spirits on a bud and it will come way easy!

I’ve only built one Eduard kit, but I love ‘em! I set my decals in place using Micro-Set, but did wait 24 hours minimum. Then used a brush with Mineral Spirits to remove the carrier film. Personally, I think doing separate video “chapters” will retain viewers. I did it tonight, but it’s hard to watch an hour + video in one sitting. I think 15-25 minutes is preferable. Just my two cents. Turned out great! Peace and love.
