Manifold is strictly superior because time is not a consideration in Satisfactory. You can literally just leave the game open.

Im just playing satisfactory + .. its insane .. but one question in satisfactory + there are 3 tiers of blueprint designer which is really cool do you think they will add something like this to 1.0 ? did they mention something i didnt watch so many of pre relase videos so i hope i missed it
@SatisfactoryNews

They have consistently said that they won't do bigger blueprints for 1.0 and they believe that they've provided the perfect size. However, there could be a few changes, such as adjust the clipping on Refineries so that they can fit. BUT, they are not ruling out that there could be changes later, after 1.0.

I built a sort of mega factory that could produce a moderate amount of all goods including bars up to level 3, for level 4 and some level 5 stuff I used a train network and ended u going more modular, that first base used belts and I called it my "build base". a good place to use a train to move goods. If I star a new save once 1.0 gets released then I will probably do something more similar or clean. Last thing I built was a supercomputer factory that could make 4 or 5 a minute and I had 8 train stations bringing in things from modular factories like aluminum bars, plastic, rubber. The natural resources that were near the base I used. It was beautiful and took me months. My factories are gorgeous and I really don't want to ever start over.

I was gonna do a fresh start no matter what - in fact, I ended up dropping the game for about a month just because I got so busy, and decided not to pick it back up because I was gonna wait for 1.0. I caved in recently, of course, and started a new save for Satisfactory+ because I wanted to try it after ImKibitz posted his video on the mod. But when 1.0 comes out I'll start another new save for just vanilla.

About load balancing, you can stack mergers and splitters on top of each other and use the upward belts, it can be a bit tricky but by doing that, it takes up a lot less space you can also put the splitters right next to each others, you will still have to place a belt between them tho but it will seems like they are directly connected if done properly it's a bit hard to explain without showing it in action but i tried it myself and adding multiple looping belts is still as easy as when you do it the way you showed on the video although some might argue that it's way less satisfying, and i honestly can't disagree.

If your going to go full OCD Mega base you better have the spread sheet set up. Your going to need to know how much of everything there is that you can pull from all over the map. And then start to storage room math. You want everything to come in at a rate of X parts based of Y usage. That way you are not wasting anything. Not to mention your going to need to know how much of it is used to get your endgame items and at all other stages. Feels like an EVE trading spread sheet. Then an update happens and screws up all the math.

How much power you need really depends on how fast you want to produce things. I was able to finish the game with primarily coal power and some normal fuel power, but never had to touch turbo fuel or nuclear power.

Putting factories in buildings should Be worth it not just cosmetic. a fully enclosed factory should give some kind of bonus to production otherwise there is NO POINT in building 95% of the stuff you see fanatics build.. no normal player will ever bother as there is no point to it, it uses a lot of matts and takes insanely long not including all the issues you come across trying to place everything. NO WORTH IT! MAKE IT WORTH OUR TIME! PLEASE!.. i like the game but it seems pointless why am doing this why should i do all that.. etc. i want to but whats the point?

You know, I've never understood Minecraft Creative mode. I grew up building with Lego, but when it comes to making things in Minecraft, I don't have any ideas and I don't find it that fun. For some reason, Satisfactory makes it fun for me. But if you don't have fun with building and decorating, that's fine. It doesn't serve a function so if you only care about the factory part, there is nothing wrong with that.

I've been using Manifold mostly, but load balancing where convenient. The difference in how I used it was that I didn't build a belt of higher tier unless I needed it. Let me explain. Let's take a case of Manifold method. The input belt is a tier 4 at 480/min speed. But a singular machine needs only a fraction of that, it can be handled by a tier 1 belt! And so, if you use a tier 1 belt, aside from saving a miniscule amount of resources, you also change the ratio of resources machines get from the beginning. First machine will start filling up its buffer at 60 items per minute, and the rest (420/min) goes to the next splitter in the manifold. And so, that goes up to 8 machines. But that's just the half of my approach, the second part (which might've actually caused more imbalance, still pondering on that) is changing the belt tier as you go down the manifold. Let's say that a machine consumes the item at a rate of 15/min. Then, the belt that goes to the fourth from the end splitter will only need to be tier 1, as the max these machines can take combined is 60/min. But, that can make the manifold's weakness even worse - the last machines may be starving of resources for a small amount of time. I think I've faced this in my compacted coal power generation facility, where the last 3 or so generators had a little fuel starvation problem. I've changed the belts that go from splitter to splitter to tier 3 and haven't noticed the problem since. I have a steady supply of a full tier 3 belt of compacted coal, so it definitely wasn't lack of actual supply. This information mostly applies to a case where the supply meets demand exactly, and you engineered your setup to go at max throughput. There are uses for manifolds and there are uses for load balancing. Good luck, have fun!

For load balancing the number must be *composed* of only 2 and 3, not *divisible* by 2 or 3. This means you might need to feed back multiple belts. For exmple, 10 is divisible by 2, but the next 'splitable' number is 12.

3:06 The statement that it is easy for numbers divisible by 2 or 3 is not correct. This breaks as early as 10. What you actually want is numbers with only 2 and 3 as prime factors. You have to split by 2 or 3 in every step so you multiply the number of outputs by 2 or 3 every step. To reach my example 10 which has 5 as a prime factor there is no way to reach it without multiplying by 5 at some point in the chain so you would have to split into 5-way at some point. The same actually goes for your example of 100 which has 5 as a prime factor as well. EDIT: a nvm, haven't seen the corrections video before, you already addressed that, my bad.

This was so helpful - I see a lot of people willing to tackle how manifolds work but not as many who are able to get into the weeds of load balancers. This video helped me get a better understanding and I'll certainly be implementing these methods into my game. It feels like the missing piece to keep my factories tidy.

I think there are a few great places for load balancing in the game: loading and unloading trains, after smelting ore and after mass-productions like screws or wire. Manifolds are great for pretty much everything else. In case someone is interested in compact, in-line balancers, I made a small set to satisfactoryblueprints. Just look for "compact load balancer" there.

The only time I use slower belts for machines in manifolds is when the machine uses the exact rate that the slower belt can provide (60, 120, 270, etc.). In the general case it's better to fully max out your manifold belts with the highest tier of belts. To fully startup a manifold, the idea is that you're trying to fill up the internal buffers of the first X-2 machines ASAP. By using slower belts, you artificially limit how fast you can fill up the internal buffers. A very simple approach to tell if your manifold is filling up ASAP is to look at your input belt. If it's set up optimally it should only back up if the machines get clogged. If it's backing up before all the machines are filled, then your slower belts are artificially increasing your startup time. The input line will typically only get clogged like this if you have the last few machines that need to be filled but are limited by the lower belt speed.

Well I would love to save my old save, my entire world is reliant on those sulphur nodes they are getting rid of so when they do my train which brings sulphur to my nuclear plant for waste processing and fuel processing will break down, it will also stop bringing sulphur to my fuel plant to make compacted coal, and then the only thing left will be my crappy starter coal generators that are fueled with spaghetti belts that are impossible to follow. Could be a fun project to try and salvage and restart such a broken world though. Another thing I just remembered that the sulphur train supplies is my battery production which goes to my drones which bring electromagnetic rods and a few other items to my nuclear stuff. TLDR: My entire save will break in 1.0 because of the 3 nerfed sulphur nodes in the northern forest.
