Guys!!! I have news!!!!!! Perfect circuit received a brand new virus in stock today on 8-1-2024. I just bought it. It is now officially out of stock. I will confirm it. I have officially bought the last virus ever produced on this planet. I am one lucky man!!!!!!!!!

You're selling this a lot more than any other synfluencers, but maybe it's just that I really like the ambient sounds you're making with it.

I was a keyboard and synth service tech for 26 years. Someone brought in a yellow Sledge. Even though I was a Studiologic authorized service center, it took months to get the main board. Before buying any synth, check to find out what you are going to do when it needs service. They all will break! Some Manufactures have many service centers around the world: Yamaha, Roland, Korg, Kawai, Casio. Many require shipping it to the factory. Some do not even sell parts. If under warranty, they would replace the keyboard. Out of warranty, you trash it and replace it.

I'm glad I'm not the only person noticing the boutique-ness of modern workstations and pro synthesizers. It's really depressing that we could get a full dedicated workstation that just slams it all together with a lovely workflow unique to hardware, it seems no company out there wants to be the one that made the future proof synthesizer. For instance, a piece of hardware from back in the day I champion is the RS7K. It's a joy to sequence on, has tons of 'oblique strategy'-like tools that are a knob away (MIDI FX is the coolest thing ever) and despite the fact the sounds inside are rather...flat, in terms of modern trends, it still samples (albeit clumsily compared to modern machines) and thus can utilize modern sounds in a workflow that is just a joy to play with. When Yamaha released the SeqTrack, I was severely annoyed because that sequencer and all that power could have been used in a similar boutique machine and even kept the QY series alive with a QY200 or something...and completely stomped the MC101 out of it's place as the biggest sounding tiny machine simply out of the sequencer ability alone. Egh...I get emotional when I see the decisions synth manufacturers are making. Even reissuing unchanged older machines with modern interface quality of life improvements like SD card storage, faster processing so that things like switching patterns/fx don't stutter, etc...I would totally buy the RS as is today with an MC101/MC707 level sound processor being controlled by it. And we'll probably not get anything like that again.

ever since I started learning about HW synths it has always fascinated me how is it possible almost all modern synths have such poor polyphony and multitimbrality and can't compete with the old TI, especially when there are such powerful processors nowadays!

What is the keyboard triggering? The Labyrinth, the Subharmonicon, or a third off-screen synth?
@NoirEtBlancVie17 күн бұрын
It’s not triggering anything synth wise, I just wanted to play some Rhodes sounds. It’s hooked up to a mixer on a whole separate input. Synth sounds are exclusively labyrinth and subharm, not even hooked up to any pedals or FX

The great wizard has a burst of inspiration for a new potion of musical bliss. Prithee what could create this inspiration? Two of the more unusual synth ingredients from Moog the summoned voice in the fire responds! And within minutes the mage has concocted a spellbinding sequence… Well done!

You have them sounding nice. I got the lab last week and it was defective so it was returned. Today the new one came in mail and tonight I tried it. My results were not that great. It sounded very fm sounding. Maybe i can learn it better, but I thought it would sound more like two separate melodies playing without a very metallic fm type texture. Probably just the way I had the settings. Its an interesting semi that is a cool addition to the rest of the moog semi's.

Now that I have my Labyrinth I understand why people aren’t able to figure it out. It’s the CP style mixer combined with the wave folder. You can’t just crank the levels and have it sound great because wavefolders need waves with peaks and valleys to chew on, but the mixer clips so easily by design. There are subtleties you need to find in the harmonics between the two VCOs, which you can then send along to the folder at the correct level. Total nerd synth and I love it.

I think this is very good assessment, I’ve seen sooooo many comments on other vids early on that they think it sounds like crap, when in reality it’s very much a beautiful box, just takes some work. You really have to “be easy on it”. Like you said, cranking knobs will probably frustrate people and they’ll return it.

The Subharmonicon seemed to go out of favor quickly since almost everything made with it sounded distinctly like a Subharmonicon, and it was very difficult to break it out of the particular sound it wanted to make. I worry that the Labyrinth may suffer a similar fate... though perhaps to a lesser extent. It seems to work reasonably well when recording a long experimental session into a DAW, then cutting up and layering the best parts to make an arrangement.
