When researching planers this kept coming out on or near top with many being compared to this. When buying this tool I figured I needed something very good and not something to skimp on so bought this, it has worked well except I cannot for life of me get this plane without leaving snipe 😢. Tried every adjustment possible that other say work but still getting snipe every time. Starting to think that I made wrong choice.

The only way I found to reduce the snipe is removing the minimum amount of material with each pass. But when I say 'minimum', I mean it. And also always use the selector on position 1. Thanks for you comment!

Holy cow, looks good but Howard's feed n wax is NOT food safe

I already changed to the Howard's BUTCHER BLOCK CONDITIONER. I was sure all my boards were re-sanding and redoing the full coat one more time. Thanks for your comment!

I too have a stack of Craftsman tools. Great tools, not over priced and still bring me happiness while I work.

I'm sure by now you've come to realize, you can't nor should you use a dust collector or shop vac with this model. It has a built in blower. Just get your self a cyclone separator, and connect it onto a drum or some sort. 4 inch or 2 1/2" hose from the planer to the separator. No need for vacuum at all.
@rookiewoodworkerАй бұрын
Hi! You are right. The blower on the planer is so powerful that the shop vac is making a mess of dust. However, if I turn off the shop vac, all the dust sunk the oneida dust deputy piece. I'm still looking a way to fix all that. Thanks!
@enterprise59Ай бұрын
@@rookiewoodworker I'll be getting this planer by end of week. I've seen several videos already showing how to solve the dust issue. Might do a youtube search for this. My plan is to hook an elbow to it with a hose running into the dust deputy which will sit on top of an enclosed drum. Don't put a hose on the TOP of the cyclone, just the inlet. Give that a try.
@rookiewoodworkerАй бұрын
@@enterprise59 I'll try that, thanks for the suggestion!

A suggestion - swap your stack. Put the shop vac on top and the dust deputy/chips bin below. Seal the open on the side of the shop vac; cut an equivalent hole at the bottom instead. Then you can run a short hose from the vac straight down to the Dust Deputy. You will get much better results.
@rookiewoodworker2 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. Good suggestion! I put the bin on top thinking that gravity will help to collect the chips, but that was not the case. The idea works for "normal" use, like sanding, cleaning the areas, etc. However, when I use it with the planner, is not good. The blower in the planner is 3 times more powerful than the shop vac, so all the chips collapse the Dust Deputy and the entire collection just stop working. I'm still looking for a solution.

@@rookiewoodworker Great! I'm not trying to be a "Safety Sally" or anything. Just trying to help. A lot of wood is chemically-treated. I've heard of people getting lung cancer from breathing too many wood/dust particles. Keep up the good work!
