I just saw at the end of tge video that you checked the pellets after a rain!!! Drain and empty all pellets from the hopper and the alger tube. The pellets WILL swell up and clog and stop your alger from working for just humidity- not only rain. Empty them after EVERY cook... and that's all I got to say about that.
@MikesMischief22 күн бұрын
I would rather haul this thing to the scrap yard than empty the hopper after every cook. I don’t think anyone would ever buy one if that were the case. We bought a cover for it. Keeps them dry enough. I’ve had them swell up a couple of times and so far the auger hasn’t gotten stuck. It did error out this Saturday for some reason. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it worked fine after that.
@Calibir122 күн бұрын
@@MikesMischief too bad for that - that's why i have a Camp Cheff pellet grill. It has a pellet dump shoot on the back bottom of the hopper, and the burn pot has a trap door on the bottom to empty the burn pot and a pellet feed feature on the alger tube to empty it as well as to pre-prime the pellet pot before starting. I take the extra (few minutes) after each cook. I had to take the pellet shoot out and clear a clog shortly after i bought it a few years ago - because i did not know about the pellets swelling and clogging it up back then - and that was just from humidity- not rain.

What if you just disconnect the bad battery, will the truck still start and run good or you need all of the batteries?
@MikesMischief22 күн бұрын
Yeah most trucks should crank and start with 2 good batteries. These new trucks are complex and you’d have to make sure the wire ends were still attached to the remaining battery terminals. Older trucks were 24v and you got the 24v by connecting the batteries in series but they quit doing that in the 80’s except some military trucks. It gets down to -30°F here in the winter and we need all of the cranking power we can get. The batteries in this truck were from the factory. That’s about 6 years on truck batteries which is unheard of. They’re $120 each at Napa and I’m certain the other 2 weren’t too far behind so we replaced them all. Weak batteries cause early failure of the alternator and starter so it’s a no brainer.

It looks like the tires still of the rim tho didn’t look like it changed at all
@MikesMischiefАй бұрын
Tell me you’ve never worked on tires without telling me you’ve never worked on tires…. The tire beads are like giant rubber bands with steel wires in them. They have to be stretched over the outer part of the rim. The gap when they’re not beaded up is too big to hold back air so the tire won’t inflate. You must use a bead blaster or starting fluid like I did to get a huge burst of air to push the beads out.

@MikesMischiefАй бұрын
We just plug the small ones. If we get a big hole and have to dismount the tire from the rim then we go though it and put patches were any plugs are. We burn off a set of rubber about once a year. Plugs are considered a temporary repair but they will last the life of the tire in my experience.

@4:56 that is not the correct way to measure to cut the rod. there could be issues inside the can that cod cause that measurement to be wrong. you are suppose to mount the chamber then use a square to mark the rod off of the center of the S-cam.
@MikesMischiefАй бұрын
I’ve been working in shops for decades and I’ve never seen someone mount a can just to get the measurement. I’ve used a long square when a can blew out and there was nothing to measure. You can measure from the center of the s-cam to the face of the bracket with a long square because the bracket itself is a square surface that is normally flush with the face of the can when mounted. Square is square so it doesn’t matter if you measure the top, middle or bottom as long as you’re measuring from the same square surface. When the spring is shmucked inside I use a metal coat hanger or wire to get the measurement if it’s not too far gone. The average person is too lazy to mount and then unmount a can for a measurement. Probably the “correct” way but certainly far from the most common.

My dad wants me go give my son this truck for his first vehicle but I’m worried that it will be hard for him to find parts in the future. It needs a transmission now and I’m still trying to decide if I should have it done or just take the truck to the auction and get him something that the parts are easier to find. I have done more brakes on semis and heavy trucks than passenger vehicles. Truck brakes always come with a hardware kit. I forgot that passenger brakes don’t normally come with a hardware kit. I think it’s a Superduty rear axle but I’m not 100% sure.

You f***** up if you plan on using that is it supposed to put them on first before you put the floor joists in
@MikesMischiefАй бұрын
If you’re using them on a header board mounted to a structure they should be on first. These are being used in reverse where the runners are holding up the end boards. Its a small but effective way to ad a little extra strength. It’s a way to distribute the force of the screw heads over a larger connected area, the runners aren’t “hanging” off of the bow or stern. They’re holding it up. I’ve had this boat out 20+ times on some really big lakes. 25mph winds. Huge waves it just plows right over them. You can’t even type a clear, coherent sentence. I can’t imagine you would have anything intelligent to poorly type out anyway.

@MikesMischiefАй бұрын
I would argue that most people born and raised in a metropolis of any kind would go through wing and see it as a ghost town. I see it as a very small town. I hauled many oversized loads through Bismarck and the permitting company would route me through there if I had a load over 18’ tall due to the stop lights in Bismarck. I went through there once in about 2007 just sight seeing. Houses in Bismarck are expensive. It’s only a 45 minute drive and a retired or work from home person could save a lot of money buying in wing and driving to bismarck once a week for grocery’s. I walked the cemeteries in all of these towns and there were a lot of names from the early 1900’s that are now big well known names. I didn’t add any footage from the cemeteries because I thought it’d be disrespectful. I kept telling my gf they’re not haunted and she would ask if I’d go there at night alone and the answer was a predictable…. no ma’am.

@ameliafroehlich2577 I mostly film truck and tractor related stuff. I made this video as a Halloween special. I’m still trying to figure out this KZfaq thing. It’s just a hobby for me. I feel like it’d be 50/50 on people finding it disrespectful/interesting. I just think how I’d feel if some KZfaq guy was filming my families headstones to make $5 in ad revenue. I don’t know if it’d bother me or not. But we live in a time when it’s hip to be offended and some folks look for reasons to be a victim. It’s weird to me what gets views and what doesn’t. The algorithm is temperamental so I just try to stay within reasonable lines and stay on topic. ND is like a big club. You’re either in the club or out and if you pi*s off the wrong person you’re out and no one will hire you. People will refuse to do business with you etc…. I am already barely in the club so I’m trying to not get kicked out completely. No joke I had a very experienced welder/fabricator tell me he didn’t know how to remove 4 bolts and cut a metal bracket to install a pump on a semi of mine one time. I had worked for his neighbor for a few years and when I quit my boss told everyone we know not to do business with me. If there’s a name in a town you’d like me to look for I’d be happy to and I could even bring a crayon and a piece of paper if you’d like to have a stone-rubbed copy. I’ll be filming tractor pulls and threshing shows all summer but I will probably be back out in September filming another ghost town video. I have an instagram if you have a P.O. Box you could send it to me there.

It is much easier if you back the cams off more
@MikesMischief2 ай бұрын
You have to get your finger tips a lot further in there if the S-cam is reset. I had a pry-bar kick out one time and the tip of my finger got caught between the roller and the shoe. They had to superglue the tip of my finger back on. Also I had to replace the can on this brake here also. The big spring was broken so I didn’t even bother backing the shoes off. I hate fighting the lockout on the adjusters so I wait until the new rollers are in and just crank it until they drop into the curves. I don’t know if it matters but I like to squirt some grease into the adjuster and crank it around so the worm gear isn’t riding on the same spot as the previous set of shoes and to make sure the adjuster functions internally beyond the last point it was resting. It also helps the new grease distribute more internally. I saw this hack and wanted to try it for myself.
