@@thompsonjerry3412. Thanks for your comment . The only vent is via the pinion bearing into the swing arm/drive shaft tube . I might drill and tap the final drive housing and fit a breather , but that's a job for winter .

Watch "The motor oil geek", he did an episode testing cans of old oil. You will never use an old can of oil again. Good drain plug mod. With the bike not having an oil filter, an older style of oil may be better. Modern oils are designed to keep dirt particles suspended in order to get them to the filter. Oils for older, unfiltered systems drop the deposits so they do not circulate through critical components. Having said that, choosing oil can be a mine field. Everyone that thinks they know about oil will tell you your selection is wrong. Use which ever you feel is best.

@@ginner43 Hi thanks for the comment . I do indeed watch the " motor oil geek " . I 'm currently using an engine oil that he recommends highly . It was also recommended by a very succesful race engine builder from Launceston , Cornwall who did some machining on my Guzzi 1000SP when I was locked down in UK . I don't have a loyalty to any brand , I just buy one of the better brands when they are on sale .Most are good and manufacturers buy from one another anyways so you never know exactly what you are getting . Not Vishing to start an oil thread , I Von't say Vhat's in the engine .

@@dungspreader The worst thing you could ever do is tell the general public which oil you use. The arguments will go on for weeks. I'm glad you have an oil you are happy with, keep using it and keep making videos. Cheers P.S. I was going to use an emoji here, but there's so many of them and I don't know what they all mean.

Nice restoration. I have just recently got the 44 mag and 30-30 versions. They both have the walnut stock versions. The 44 mag is a cloverleaf shooter. I redid the stock finish last month. Turned out very nice. The 30-30 I just got a few weeks ago with a broken ejector. I'm in the process of bringing it back to workable condition. Fun guns to work on. The 44 mag has a new Timney trigger. The 30-30 stock trigger is great. The Timney is well worth the cost. The 788 ejection issue is well known. Raising the rings cures it. I have done that. I've done a few videos on my channel if you are curious. Enjoy it. Great shooters.

So he went to Staffordshire Triumph for his next new bike . But Pidcocks are BMW dealers as well which probably explains a lot . My mate just bought a bike from Minion's . The crankcase is large . But when you strip it all down , you realise that it doesn't weigh much at all , it's also the oil tank so no external oil tank and oil hoses to deal with . With a very strong bottom end for a V Twin , I think it's a very well designed engine and built to last .

I saw this years ago and went to buy. The great coughing event of 2020 was in full swing and nothing was moving so I couldn't get one. I got a Lee Shaver vernier and it's great. My issue is, when 100+ minutes are dialed in, the Hadley bumps into the comb and the staff doesn't drop sufficiently to clear the breech. This isn't an issue with grease grooves and blow tubes but with paper patch and the required wiping between shots, it's a serious issue. Yes I can use a chamber guide and delrin rod but I want the option to use a steel rod if need be. Now I'm eyeballing these again thinking maybe it's time to grab one.

Thank you for the headspace information. I have the #1 MKIII* Enfield and the bolt is hard to open once it is fired. My gunsmith said the bolt has too much headspace. The bolt head is not marked with any numbers. I decided to check headspace by firing an unloaded case with just a primer. The primer protruded pass the cart. head. is this a good way or accurate way to measure headspace in the simplistic?
@dungspreader
@dungspreader 2 ай бұрын
A primer on it's own won't create the same pressure as a cartridge . You need to push the used primer part way back in the empty case and close the bolt on it and then measure as outlined in the video. Number 1 rifle bolt heads are not numbered .

Someone on a Loopframe Facebook page mentioned a 28 ball bearing made by ZKL . I thought that they might be the answer although I'd never heard of them . They are Czech . A simple carb, easy to tune. No rubber diaphragms to split. Some were used on racing Minis in the @60's. Often to start a bike, one would hold down the tickler until petrol escaped. A couple of kicks and it started. I never used the choke on any of my Triumphs from a '50 Thunderbird to a '70 T100SS. The Monobloc could go weak on a long right hand bend, which is why they developed the remote 'fag packet' float chamber, and then the concentric, so the main jet wasn't starved of fuel.
