Treasure. thanks for making this available online. English subs would be nice. (autogenerated subs are awkward to say the least.) Saotome is a real treasure, and Ikeda continues it. Inspirational, educational.

Now THIS is a real Aikido seminar. I think the aikidokas who stopped coming once Saotame was replaced by this great Ikeda master, are missing out. Thanks for making this video and making it available.

Both Saotome sensei and Ikeda sensei are wonderful teachers. Although a karateka, I spent many years as Saotome sensei's uke in various seminar settings and I must admit he has influenced my "karate" more than anyone else. The nature of his transmission (for me at least) has always been oddly metaphysical almost like a poem that we attach our own meaning - "astrology" or "a strategy" for him it is all the same. He has often said to me;, "everything is Aikido," to which I reply "hai sensei, everything is karate" - at which point he smiles and says..."exactly!" Ikeda sensei is one of the most delightful and genuine humans I have encountered and his unique skill and expression of Aikido is extraordinary. In a world filled with a preoccupation of the purely utilitarian, it is great to have two teachers that still have an element of magic.

Thank you for this wonderful testimony. May I ask, when and where did you train with them ?

@@aikidoharmonie I live in Sarasota Florida, (Saotome sensei's home town) And although a karateka for the past 50 years, I began training Aikido in 2000 with the folks of ASU. In fact, I will be training this Saturday with Saotome sensei as we are hosting him at the our dojo co-managed with Melissa Bell Sensei - the Sarasota Budokan. I trained with Ikeda sensei in the mid 2000s at the various seminars he taught in the area and his Colorado camp,...What a delightful soul.

7:29 this is very confusing. there is much going on there, authority, compleasancy. I think we need to train with better understanding of the modern body mechanics knowledge, and not get confused any longer. I had visited the vigan seminar 3 times in the early 2000 with saotome sensei today the martial art world is benefiting from the spreading inputs from science, MMA, technology, and history, self développement and meaning must be considered seriously.
