Absolutely crap and irritating things. I have a C'eed. Great car but as I say these jets are a complete frustration! I have this problem all the time with mine. DESIGN FAULT. The jets have a none return spring valve inside that clogs up usually because two different sorts of washer fluid have been used. Its not sludgy gunge that builds up its little bits of crystal. You can fix them though. Some Kia jets are available on ebay for a few pounds so its not worth the effort of cleaning however the soul jets are about £20.00 each. Its an easy job to do if you have some tools. I cleared mine by using an ultrasonic cleaner and kept poking some 2.5mm electric earth wire down both ends of the jet and back in the cleaner etc etc. Have read that boling in white vinegar will clear it as well. It really is an easy fix taking off the shroud that covers the jets so dont be afraid to have a go. KIA are a waste of space. Told my daughter it wouldnt be covered under guarantee and would incur a £160.00 diagnostic fee but they didnt have an appointment for 3 weeks? Only thing to make sure of is that the water is coming from the bottle and you must empty it and wash it through which is quite easy using the hose as shown in the video

This is a known problem with the Jazz, that's why you will find a number of these cars with dents on the rear bumper or tailgate because the driver has applied the hand brake lever but not put it into first gear. My wife has the 1.2 jazz and I have the 1.4 jazz, same problem with both, you can have a perfectly adjusted hand brake holding on the 6th notch at the MOT and all is fine, come the next MOT a year later and the handbrake needs 10 notches and a hefty pull to hold the car on a mild incline. Every model of a car made has one fault and this is the one on the jazz. Handbrake on rear discs is generally a crap idea. My VW Sharan has the same problem, the auto adjusters seize up with water and mud and puts resistance against the handbrake operation. The sprung actuator lever seizes and I have to get underneath spray it with WD 40 and operate the lever till it frees up. My first car was a Morris Minor with drum brakes all round, the front braking was poor and down hills you really had to watch your speed, the rear drum handbrake was remarkably good and I found myself having to use the the handbrake in conjunction with the foot brake on winding hills, and the handbrake would last through a few MOT's before they needed attention, maybe that explains why some Jazz owners are fitting drum brakes to the rear? That's progress.
@gtd65
@gtd65 28 күн бұрын
Hi David, I'm not sure why they changed to the discs, as the drum brakes worked perfectly on the previous Jazz we had. Never any trouble with the drum handbrake, other than perhaps adjusting the cable under the centre console once in four years of ownership. I think it's a job you expect to do every other year or just before the MoT to make sure it's all good. Previously you wouldn't leave the car without putting it in 1st gear. They are such good little cars otherwise.

Hello my friend,i have a kia ceed 2008 second gen 1.4 petrol and i replaced my fuel tank but when o filled the tank with fuel the fuel was leaking on the top of the tank and spilling under the car Any suggestion why is this leak???Is it possible that the fuel tank isnt sealed enough???
@gtd65
@gtd65 Ай бұрын
Hi Giorgio, when you replaced the tank, did you swap over, the in tank fuel pump and sender unit? If it's from the top I'm thinking it might be the seal around the sender unit (see 02:08). You get access to that, under the rear seat, inside the car, so it should be easy enough to check if it has been or is still leaking. If it's not that seal, I'd double check the hose clamps for the fuel filler (08:12). Was it a new or used tank that you fitted? Could it have been a faulty tank that was fitted?

I went to do my oil and filter change, everything went alright until it was time to put the orings back on the filter housing cup - I put my oring exactly where it was when it came out when i inspected it but upon starting the vehicle i had a leak and lost half a litre, In a panic i shut it down and shit my pants thinking I didn't torque up the sump plug to spec, nah the sump plug was bone dry! I looked at the housing and of course that was sodden, and the splash tray was filled with what came out of the threads. So I looked for your channel and found this glorious video and what do you know! the bloody o ring had shifted when i pulled it out as the oring on your filter housing cup was on the third notch up, mine was on the fourth where there was some threading present still. I used a mahle 0X 351d filter and i noticed it had an extra oring that was a bit skinnier than the one that sits on the shaft of the oil filter housing, any idea where that one is suppose to go? as i replaced the sump crush washer and the two orings on the housing but this third one is a mystery to me. Bloody nightmare but thanks to you, you saved the day so i really appreciate your videos on this car mate, thank you once again.

Well well, it got done and in no small part thanks to your excellent videos. Big thanks! For the future, would you consider making a video of servicing the EGR valve? @soundknight from memory this is more of an issue on the driver side (UK/RHD) rear brake caliper? One thing you have to verify is the position of the caliper piston cross shape, relative to the raised bumps on the inner brake pad that has to be aligned to accept the caliper. If not, it will not slide into place, no matter how hard you try. It might be an idea to make sure the handbrake cable (is it not a cable, rather than a hydraulic line?) is fully released.

Thanks for the video. I had a stab at replacing my drop links today. I used twin axle stands and had both front wheels off my KIA C'eed 1.6 crdi. Only done 52K miles. The top bolts came off using a socket wrench and holding spanner. The bottom ones were rusted and wouldn't budge so completely seized. I don't have a grinder. Can I use a hacksaw instead? Difficult to reach down there. Gave up in the end...

Hi Simon, Yes using a hacksaw will get the job done but might take a bit more effort. Getting the right angle will help but it should be a decent workout. You can always pull the drop link off the joint (like a chicken leg out the carcass) to get a better view of where you need to make the cut.
