@@jamesflaherty2787 MD during the 1970s was Guy Robinson. Tony Hanna A&R. Producer John Drummond. EMI's offices in Dublin were at 23 Lower Dominick Street. EMI (The Gramophone Record Company) opened the first pressing plant in Ireland at Ferrybank in Waterford. This later moved to an Dublin Industrial Estate during the 1970s. The second Irish record plant was Carlton Productions, opened in the John F. Kennedy estate off the Naas in Dublin circa 1966. Carlton was the first plant in Ireland able to press stereo LPs. EMI's Dublin plant opened in 1976. It accepted orders for very low runs, as low as 250. Most UK indie label releases from this period with "manufactured in Ireland" on the label were pressed at this plant. The Dublin plant was closed in 1979-1980 as it was not a commerical success. This left Carlton with a monopoly until it's closure ca 1990. Carlton's minimum order size was 1000. When EMI moved form the Dublin Industrial Estate to an address in Ballsbridge in the early 90s, all Irish master tapes were sent to Abbey Road for storage. Alas, all paper archives were dumped. There are Irish EMI pressings of many international releases (including the much sought after green label pressings from 1980). There are also Irish only releases. The EMD 4000, IEMI 5000 and IEM 000 singles series are of most interest in this regard. Initial pressings of EMI Ireland singles were in quantities as small as 250 (the minimum), 500 or 1000, depending on popularity, but it was not unusual for popular titles to sell 20 thousand or more. There are also many LP releases, mostly folk and trad, in the Aran, Green, Talisman and Shamrock series, but most collectable is the Leaf series from the mid-70s.

I thought these were very shoddy. The packaging and layout was naff especially the booklets. No lyrics, photos and pathetically short essays on each album. They had typing errors, false info (Amarok) missing tracks on the track listing (Crises). The thing that broke the camel's back and put me off these though was an audio glitch on Ommadawn part 2. Also the lack of bonus tracks was a big wasted opportunity. Thank god the far superior deluxe editions came out later on from 2009. Too bad they stopped at Discovery though. Edit: yeah speaking of the spine making up the image of the Tubular Bell, they even got the part of the image the wrong way round on 2 of the albums. Islands and Discovery or Earth Moving. So even that idea of collecting to form the image was ruined.

@@leethomas2155 I agree. A pure botch job and I used to think the original CDV issues were bad! It would be nice to see the Virgin albums from Islands to Heaven’s Open reissued in any case. Climate change took the sun and sent it to Africa and all their people here

I don't understand why people question global (as in GLOBAL) warming when temperature is lower tha usual local (as in LOCAL). The past 13 months were 13 record breaking months when it comes to global temperature (that's the temperature of the ENTIRE globe). When it's colder here, it logically must be warmer elsewhere. And so it does (in South Louisiana for instance as I read in the comments). Remember 2/3 of the globe is covered with water: that's a lot of space where temperature might be rising without noticing it on land. I read about two elements that define climat change in Western-Europe today: (1) The water of the Mediterranean Sea doen't cool down enough during autumn (even during winter) to provide it from evaporating and sending rainy clouds across Europe. (2) Due to climate change we seem to lose the warm effect of the gulfstream that runs (ran) through the North Sea making us weather less colder than I should be.

I never bought the 2000 HDCD remasters. I was disappointed they didn't contain bonus tracks. In anticipation to this release campaign I sold all my original Oldfield CD's (I kept my original vinyl copies). That means that years went by without owning any Oldfield CDs from the Virgin era (I didn't sell his Warner catalogue). I started recollecting his work on CD in 2009 with the start of the 2CD deluxe series. Unfortunately they never got behind Discovery and I'm afraid we will never see reissues of Islands, Earth Moving, Amarok and Heaven's Open. I tried to track down those later Virgin albums on CD but I went for the original CD releases. And most recently I aimed for the very first CD pressings of Five Miles Out (1983), Crises (1983), Discovery (1984) and The Complete (1985). FMO and D have the lyrics in the booklet. Unfortunately Crises hasnt (instead an article about his 10 years with Virgin). You can recognise the first CD pressings by the catalogue number that is printed on the inner white side of the back sleeve. Maybe I will add Tubular Bells (1983) as well. I also managed to get Boxed and Wonderland on original CD.

@@skye7690 based on Kluson style vintage tuners. They’re the only tuners I really like. Feel perfect to the touch when tuning. No dangerous strings sticking out. The perfect replacement for the sealed type that Fender have been using on most models since the late 70s. The sealed type buttons feel too clunky even though they’re great tuners. Here you have vintage style drop in without drilling. I never liked locking tuners. Totally unnecessary.

I got one yesterday. It was totally messed up, many pieces were missing and there were some Issues with extremely loud "plopp" and "zzzzischh" sounds. I maintained and overhauled the complete motherboard, replaced the reverb wire and made me new speaker wires. The handle and the knobs are still missing, but I played a fine session with it this afternoon. Even if this is a true sold state amp. it is just great. It sounds like a true Fender. With a good slapback and tremolo pedal, it can do true Rockabilly. The Amp is extremely loud, but with volume tuned down on the guitar, it can even be played in your bedroom. I only play it clean. The gain section is very special and needs some time to understand. First the gain setting are OUCH - BAD !!! But after havin understood the settings it is possible to get good sounding and qualified gain sound out of this amp.
