I am in love with this composition which I did not know until I heard Edith Yam play it at Methuen Memorial Music Hall last week in a concert. It was the first time I ever heard it and was blown away by it. Since then, I have been searching out other performances of it and started exploring other Schmidt music. I love your interpretation and virtuosity. What a fun piece to listen too. Love the themes. Reminds me of Reger until the end where it evolves into chaos. Schmidt was crazy in a good way. Exciting playing!!

Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring has been a bit of a thing with me recently - Daniil Trifonov came to Strasbourg to do a Rachmaninov concert, and after all the noise and passion of the concerto (4th), he sat down and played this piece of Bach. And now I come across you improvising it, a few days after the truly wonderful new year concert in Strasbourg (thank you so much for that, it was amazing. I used to listen to the Gershwin piano concerto obsessively, so every note was deep in my memory, except, of course, for that spectacular cadenza.) Come back to Strasbourg asap!!

Look at the tempo sign, man. There's a speed limit of 76, you go at least 140. Waaay too quick. This one is misterious, emerging from nothing and getting back there. It's not a race, not and energetic music. Also, waay to early with the reeds in the main crescendo. Also, there's a decrescendo, not a subito p for the last page... Man, try to stick to the ideas of Kodály, instead of pressing your own beliefs.
