The Road Diet is stupid. Living in the area of HP near the current "road diet" area on John R, you get stuck in your neighborhood trying to get out. You reduce 2 lanes to 1 and you get severe congestion. You can wait forever at times to simply drive out of your neighborhood. Reducing John R around 9 mile and further north will be a NIGHTMARE. As it is, traffic gets congested with 2 lanes. You can wait in the Kroger parking lot exit for awhile to get out at times. This will make entering/exiting the post office, city hall, Kroger, CVS and McDonalds etc a NIGHTMARE. What point does it serve exactly to reduce lanes?? None. I see no advantage on the area of John R with this nonsense. It just increased congestion.

"SMORSA was overwhelming approved" - 600 voters out of 16,000 voters passing SMORSA was hardly "overwhelming". In typical fashion, HP voters didn't show up, probably because the election was very quietly represented, and the actual vote happened in the middle of the summer outside of any other major election. Few people outside of the 600 who voted for it, even knew there was an election.

Why are they called houses when they are condos? Priced at $289K. These probably would have been more exciting if they had been built off of John R. It will be interesting if they sell.

King Edward, who makes $430,000 a year, wants more of your money! If he can't raise your property taxes, he's going to charge you a Pension Assessment on your tax bill! He's already pulling in millions with the current Street Light Assessment Slush Fund that appears on your bill. So keep an eye on your tax bill, because it may go up $1000s!!! King Edward refuses to tax those huge buildings on Dequindre and 10 mile. They don't pay the Street Light slush fund. The city and county paid millions of dollars to these businesses. And they have tax abatements. Gee, I wonder why? What's the point of having these businesses if they don't pay taxes??? One business stores dangerous lithium. Another business is an Amazon warehouse, causing congestion in local neighborhoods with vans clogging the streets to get into the warehouse. So our police and fire dept protect these businesses, while they pay little to no taxes!!

Animal Control in Hazel Park = let animals roam free. There's no way you could abandon your pet at the HP animal shelter because they have a 20 foot fence that goes around the shelter so no one can leave animals there. If you call animal control for a loose dog, good luck. When's the last time you saw animal control driving around. I once called animal control because a cat kept hanging around my house. I captured it and HP animal control said "it's now your animal, if you capture it, it now belongs to you". The policy of HP animal "control" is to release feral animals back on to the streets. Complete incompetence.

Hopefully property values keep rising to Ferndale levels. Then I can sell my house and get out of here. I saw that one dude Belladona at the Kroger, he's like a linebacker in a dress. If you keep watching Eddie admits this is NOT for street lighting, but for pensions. What is scary is his threats "if you don't pay this special assessment, you could pay a lot more for defaulting on pensions". That's scary because Eddie is making decisions that could put every person in Hazel Park on the hook for a lot of money. Why is Hazel Park doing pensions?? 99.9% of Hazel Park residents don't have pensions, they likely have 401Ks IF THEY ARE LUCKY. What makes City of HP staff so special?? MOVE TO 401Ks for all HP employees, especially Eddie.

Eddie knows his lawyering - no doubt he looked up "how to tax residents without their approval and avoiding prop A" and he found "MICHIGAN SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS". Michigan assessments are why Michigan gov't is broken, not prop A. In the state of Michigan a city gov't can willy-nilly create an assessment and tax its citizens with NO REAL RECOURSE. Then again, the only real recourse is dumping your city council and getting rid of KING EDWARD KLOBUCHAR. (un-elected leader of Hazel Park).

The Street Light Assessment is a scam. It's just a way for Eddie "Kickback" Klobuchar to steal from tax payers. Call the city and tell them you want your outdated crappy street lights replaced. Do it now. Their response will be "DTE takes care of street lighting, we don't do street lighting". Ok, so why are they collecting $300 from every household (businesses are excluded) for street lighting? Ask them that and their response will be the money is "in case a car runs into a light pole". Last I checked, an assessment isn't for an INSURANCE POLICY. An assessment should be for a very SPECIFIC thing, like building a school or fixing sidewalks. Not just for padding the general fund so Eddie "kickback" Klobuchar has more money to give himself and others bonuses and raises.

You constantly complain you aren't getting enough money. But what does the City of Hazel Park actually do? It doesn't fund or manage schools. It doesn't do roads. Hazel Park does police, fire and administrative duties. That's it. Oh, and street cleaning and run an ice rink.
