I'm already wondering who made the relics and who wrote the books in the library. 😲 My animal companions are telling me I shorted them on breakfast this morning. 🥬🥬🐰🐰

my debut novel was a book I had started writing when I was nine. Many years and a bunch of rewrites later, I now have a YA romantasy novel. And I love it. All of those years of waiting were definitely worth it. Rereading your old stories is definitely a journey!

Choose what sounds good is excellent advice. I would add to that. When possible use a germania root word instead of a Latin one (also known as the "why no one actually likes Sanderson's prose despite what they say" rule).

In middle school, a librarian told me to flip to the middle of books and see if that page intrigued me enough to read the rest of it. So I did that for a while with new books lol
@SaraLubratt3 күн бұрын
I did that too! Until I flipped to the hallucination scene in the hunger games and was like "why would anyone read this??" and wouldn't read it until I saw the movie trailer 😂
@WhitneyDahlin5 күн бұрын
😂 Nooo! Why did you read the last chapter first as a kid? And did it affect your enjoyment of the books? My bookish red flag is reading in the bathtub. Many of my favorite books have some water drops and books I reread every year fall apart much more quickly due to the humidity. I also use duct tape to repair the spines of books and books that fall apart. There are quite a few books I have to re-buy every few years just because of wear and tear. I'm not the tupe of person to keep my books pristine unfortunately. I dog ear them, read them in the pool or bath, throw them in my purse. unfortunately have moved so much in my life that buy large collection of books has just gotten lost or donated over the years. So now I just have a small bookshelf of books i absolutely love. Ones that i destroy out of love

I think it was specifically with the Series of Unfortunate Events, I had to know the characters were going to be fine but with all the twists of those books, it didn't spoil the stories at all! And I love that you can love your books like that and not worry about them too much!

Are you still working at your non-creative job? How is/did that work out for you?
@SaraLubratt3 күн бұрын
No, I'm now working a job that's creative in a way that doesn't affect my writing! I do social media management for creators that aren't in my same niche (writing) and it's so fun because I love making videos but it doesn't exhaust me because they're on completely different topics! And it's flexible because they're just deadline based :)
