Feel your pain. I ve very little money and I ve slowly built a collection of 70 plants. Live in a small space and while plants do not touch , they’re close. Recently bought three plants all quarantined and turns out they have thrips after I placed with my veterans. I live in canada where we don’t have access to bug killers. I m so sad. I very much invested time (so much time) repotting with good soil products, new pots, checking daily. This feels like it exploded overnight. I just tossed 15 plants and am treating the rest. All my baby monsteras I grew from seed infested, tossed. My huge monstera and thai are now in my bathtub. .😩😩😩This is heartbreaking. Hope my hoyas arent infested and i have a 29 year old ficus tree and 6 ficus bushes. How the hell do you check those. I ll be following your journey. You are not alone in this. I have vowed never to buy another plant again.

The best option you mentioned was the miracle grow liquid it’s a General house plant fertilizer that you mix in with your water lt is safe to use every time you water as long as you don’t water your plant more then once a week if you have plants you water twice a week then only fertilize every other time it’s the easiest way and your plants will be greener and healthier too

I’m a beginner and after some heavy research I decided to go with perlite for my very first attempt at propagating. I’m a week in so still not sure how it’s going to work, but after seeing this video and several others I am feeling good about my decision!

My Exotica climbs along two Walls😍 in a short time. The are so fast and can get massive leaves. And theyre shingling so you can give them a moospole or plank and they shingle. I love them Ive never seen someone growing them like I do with my Exotica. Most people let them trail. I would recommend let them climb a wall or something, it looks so cool!

Sorry about this since I'm an old man now but I think Im in love. I love this post. its awesome and amazing and I have my whole house like this. You are completely right right about plants being everywhere, large ones, small ones, everything. Its true that its easier to replace smaller plants if they die. And they do get everywhere, thats just the best thin though. really thanks for the post, its awesome.

I thought the USPS doesn't allow soil to be shipped due to potential pests? Have your plants ever been thrown out by postal service due to containing soil?

I learned this with books. I dont have to keep every book.... Even if I dont read it. There are always going to be new books that I am more interested in. There are always going to be books at thrift stores I want to buy.... my love of books with be EVER changing. Its okay to get rid of books... even if they are pretty... even if people said it was good... even if its a classic... I dont have to own ALL the books. I dont have to keep every book I read. Move them out, and move new ones in. Libraries shouldn't and will never be stagnant. Books in 2023 are not the same as books in the 1800's... its OKAY. When I start running out of space on my shelves and I have no place to put new books it stresses me out... so instead of buying more shelves... I just get rid of books. 3 billy book shelves are enough...lol. I ALSO have ADHD and caught on to my hyper fixation issue.... I learned early on to CHILL or else I will get burnt out. I now never allow myself to dive fully in to anything at 150% because if I do, this will be the result. I need to be a slow and steady person to stay passionate.

I haven’t yet tried moss but I loveeee perlite as I think it’s quicker than water when I’ve tried it with my different strings of and Hoya etc. I also grow all my plants in semi hydro (pon from soil ninja) and think the transition is easier from perlite to semi hydro in self watering pots. Loved your experiment ❤. I will have to get moss a try. Though I worry the roots would stick to the moss and when I transition them, the remaining moss may cause rot. It would be great to know which of them transitioned well post rooting. Just an idea :). Thank you so much.

I do feel there's one more additional propagation u may have missed. "Air propagation". With moistened moss wrapped around the roots with plastic wrap, this also provides a quick rooting system before cutting it away from the parent plant...

Take your hose and put each plant in a plastic bag, don't cover the plant. Hose each off on force mode. This won't kill the ones in soil. I have tried everything. Neem mixed with a soap and spray the soil and plant. That's as far as I get 😢

I am in the same predicament . Are these Thrips? I can't really see the bugs. Oh know, the leaves are changing quickly. One day the plants looked normal, the next day I see signs on the leaves that I have ever seen before. This is so driving me nuts😳

Actually, I have understood the USPS to be NOT a government run agency. Also, they now use contractors to deliver mail and equip them poorly. Hardly anything used to ever be loss in our mail but now it is 50 50. I get other people's mail all the time, that should have been delivered to entirely different zip codes (great tec sorters) as well as mail that belonged to neighbors in the same building. Yes, there is a place from where all the hating is coming from. In regards to safe and fair elections, ballots have been found dumped by the usps. But I am glad to know you support safe and fair elections. So far haven't had a knife put to my throat on election day. We're not quite there yt.

I havent had access to ceramics since 2011 and recently decided to try my hand at digging clay from my parents backyard, processing it, and then primitive pit firing my creations. I did it once successfully in high school but basically have to relearn the whole process! Anyway, I stumbled across this video while looking for things to watch/ listen to while working on my first lumpy plant pot in over 12 years. It's so cool to see all your old projects and that you are giving them new life with your plants! Thanks for giving me a little something to look forward to!
