18:55 some of its youtube videos are just kids and idiots defending it like that it "did the same for other countries but no one cared" or "it's already a year ago (no) why do you care" and such, or even praising it despite the crimes it did.

Must be nice being allowed to call foreigners, foreigners, and then point out "crimes" they're committing. i wouldn't know, being White and all. You see, while OUR countries are being flooded by foreigners committing ACTUAL heinous crimes against us, we're not allowed to mention it, let alone refer to them as foreigners. Like I said, must be nice. Asian privilege at it again.

Too many visitors conduct themselves horribly in other countries. Japan is a popular spot for many, and to see people like him absolutely acting so obnoxious and going so far as to commit crimes, just for views, says a lot about those who shouldn't be allowed to travel. I honestly hope to see the notice show up that he was being prosecuted and found guilty on all charges, as well as others come forth and add all his antics to that charge list. Knowing a bit of the Japanese confinement system, I can't think of many others who would gain a true sense of respecting other's cultures by spending at least 3 years in their jail system. It would surely act as a deterrent for other such 'digital fame seekers' from doing similar such stunts. I'm pretty sure that most of the world would see those WWII events as absolute horror, as well as the devastating results from the Tsunami damaging the power plant. A great many lives were lost and many still impacted by those tragic events. To be so callus and inhuman in running around bragging about such tragedy is unforgivable. If it were up to me, I'd have his US citizenship revoked as well, perhaps dropping him off in N Korea or China for his next streaming event.

i think something important to note here is that, asking for money in other cultures is a (somewhat) normal thing if you need it. however on the contrary, they don't need it. they took money from these people who would have had no idea they have hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of dollars. i will jump to his defense on one thing though, in the bus when it was 680 yen instead of 600, he had prepared for 600 as that is what he was told the price was. there's nothing else he could have really done in that situation since i'd imagine he wouldn't have had money other than what he had asked for. i had seen this video before and felt uncomfortable at parts but never quite saw it this way, thank you for making this insightful video. much love x

It is possible to not know the guests if the hotel restaurant staff and lobby check-in clerks belong to different departments, which is the usual arrangement for any hotel. If the hotel was smaller, the lobby check-in clerks will just call out the bullshit and kick one out. I had a similar experience when a Japanese-American foriegner who tried to lie to me in a friendly manner as a house guest and steal our hotel's Japanese newspaper that was intended to be provided for our Japanese house guests the next day in the breakfast buffet. As the check-in clerk who personally made the roomlist everyday and keeps track of all our house guests, I called out his bluff and was threatened multipal times that he's a powerful official at the AIT (the equivilant of the US Embassy in Taiwan) which governed the local district and if I do not do what he wants, he'll have my sorry ass arrested and apologize and pay for my rude behavior. Of course, being the asshole I am and having common sense, I served him what he asked for and called the AIT immediately for an explaination on why their so-called official who clearly don't have any legal juristiction over a civilian company is threatening me over a god damn newspaper. The AIT denounced him immediately and said there is no such person and asked if I can help them call the cops on the guy, because clearly Uncle Sam really don't like imposters running amok. I gladly obliged and the moment that bastard realized I'm calling the cops, he bolted out of the door like a wimp. I got a scolding from upper management afterwards as they thought I was over reacting over a stupid would be thief and shouldn't enjoy my time toying the bastard. But considering both my manager and co-worker thought that idiot was the real deal and I was secretly laughing my ass off when the idiot was going on with his bluff, every moment of it was worth it. Trust me, any hotel staff who had worked for long hours and is in a bad temper will be glad to let idiots like these get arrested and deported just for kicks.

Most Japanese are tolerant of this behavior when it’s happening to avoid confrontation but that doesn’t mean it’s over. The complaints often happen after, like now - people contacting police because they’re all over these videos without permission 😅 I think Osaka is gearing up for the 2025 Expo and authorities are under a lot of stress, they don’t need this guy.

"Re-arrested" just means another charge was added. Their legal system only allows them to do this in increments. I think it's because the torture for 20 some odd days for each charge in order to get you to say exactly word for word what they want you to say. I know it involves sleep deprevation. I don't feel sorry for him at all. Lock him up and throw away the key. He is an embarassment to the US.

I am always flabbergasted by the audacity of western arrogance thinking that everybody in the world must be able to speak English. They expect no less if we Asians go to an English speaking country in being able to speak English. The reverse should also be true, when you come to our country, speak our language. Some of us could speak English, but don't take it as a must. Sorry... Just a rant. I had a heated discussion once saying that requiring one to be able to speak the local language is racist and everybody must speak English.

Not every foreigner is going to be smart, well behaved, and understands that visiting a different country would require adaptation to its cultural norms, laws, and manners. In the U.S., if you are ever arrested by police and you speak a different language with very little English to speak, they actually do provide you a translator if possible. If you are charged with a federal crime, they will provide you a translator because the government has a horde of translators.

The reason Japan doesn't pitch signs everywhere telling people what they can and cannot do is because children in Japan are taught to respect others. In the US, the opposite is true. "The Constitution" is being used as an excuse to do what the hell you like. Unfortunately, the US Constitution was written at a time when the legislature could not imagine how life would exist today. They would even have considered TV and video recording as witchcraft. It's time that the Constitution was updated to reflect modern life before it becomes totally unenforceable.

I think the restaurant incident happened before the construction site. I don't think he was actually let out. I think "Re-Arrested" is just a term for adding more charges to his current situation as they find them and gain enough evidence to make the stick. As they keep adding 23 days to his detention they have plenty of time to go through all of his recorded F***ery and decide what else he can be charged with. At the very least, I think he will be convicted, do 3 years and then be kicked out back to the US. I think years of hard, daily discipline will do him good. I heard him ell for the Embassy in his arrest video, and his buddy call them useless in another. But the US Embassy can't do anything to extradite someone, if the crime falls fully under Japanese Jurisdiction. After some checking, I found that nearly 300 foreigners are currently in Japanese Prisons, and about 20 or 30 are US Military Service Persons. If US Military Personnel are being held accountable, I cannot see any reason to think that Johnny is special enough to warrant any kind of special treatment. He's a hack. An Annoyance, and needs to find out that his actions have consequences.

Japan is strict about controlled substances, so some of the Americans detained may be doing time on drug charges. The Kadena Air Base on Okinawa is the largest US base in Japan. There have been several bad incidents over the years involving US servicemen in Okinawa.

Upon checking with the Japanese Consulate has assured me that I would not be able to bring them, even if I carry a written prescription.
