Some excellent footage here. Hard to believe in the Second World War-at least on the American side-glider troopers didn’t get the hazard duty pay the paratroopers did until later in the war. I maybe off on my figures, but I believe Cornelius Ryan quoted some 24 gliders out of the 1,200 used simply disintegrated mid-air during Market Garden. The fact they were considered reusable and would go to great lengths to recover them after the battle still shocks me.

Great for forgotten heroes to be honoured in this way! We never know what you will come up with next! Love the comments it provoked also and of course the great tunes!

Thankyou Neil. For some reason the story of these men, long forgotten by Britain, brought a lump to my throat. Maybe it was the poignancy of the tunes and your beautiful playing.

Sorry, I don't know... from the basic knowledge I have of the numbering system it may have been unlikely to have 2 "95ths"...soo..... probably?

Thanks very much as always Neil. Two wonderful tunes not heard much these days. It would be good if a local ex-service organisation would care for Augustus' grave site. Perhaps your video will inspire some action

As an American, we still play those pipes for our fallen brethren. A hauntingly beautiful sound.

A beautiful part of the world. I have two weeks in North Yorkshire every year. Herriot country. Alf White said in his opinion the views from Sutton Bank are the finest in England. Enjoy Neil. I’m actually just using your video of Scotland The Brave for practice.

I'm so glad this is up. I have to dust it off for a memorial next week (yes, it was requested for a memorial) and have been sitting up with Neil Dickie's First Book most of the night. It's great being able to start at 75% playback speed and work your way back to performance tempo.

Play low A and slow airs for 3-4 weeks! Pressure is far more critical than on highland pipes.. I also found that I’d been operating for the first while at a lower pressure than required.. I think everyone is cautious at first.

@@NeilClark-FalkirkPipingFollow-up. Regarding Bag pressure you were absolutely right! I was overly cautious before. There’s a sweet spot where if I over inflate it the Chanter Reed cuts out. Awesome advice! Thanks much! 😎
