@reatores
@reatores 7 күн бұрын
E o Locke ter falado pra ele que "isso sim seria impossível"... tipo, isso ter vindo justamente do LOCKE deve ter bagunçado mais ainda a cabeça dele! Imagina a luta interna q ele deve ter tido pra admitir algumas coisas...
@DmitryUlybinAbc
@DmitryUlybinAbc 6 күн бұрын

Sometimes I get the feeling that Victor wants to convince Mayra of HIS perspective. 😅 Like as if he can't accept some other opinions. Dude, chill. It can go both ways! 😉🤗 But seriously, this is like THE debate of Lost. We were all arguing back and forth like that back in the day when we first watched. But it's so much fun, too. 🤩🥹 I love the writing and this episode in particular just gets better and better on rewatch. I think I might actually put this now on #1 of season 2 for me. I was beyond excited while watching this reaction of yours. 🫶 Me personally, I'm definitely on Mayra's side (as I'm getting used to, more and more 👍🤝) but the other point of view is also completely understandable. Problem is though: You can't deduct this with logic! 🤷‍♂️ You can't SOLVE this rationally. So, I hope this was all in good fun for you, too and we don't have to worry for any more serious fighting. Just reveal to them already, Rodrigo, that we never find out if something happens or not, when the button's not pushed . . . ! 🤭🤷‍♂️😅

- the "execute" button was a common button in old computers before the "enter" button started to dominate. So it's unlikely to represent the purpose of the button, it's just the name of the common "enter" button on an old keyboard. - pushing the button seems to guarantee keeping everything the same, but not pushing the button is unpredictable and might lead to catastrophic results according to a video and a dude called Kelvin (and whatever his sources are) so it might be risky. In this case, I'd vote to push the button at least until we investigate all of the hatch and find more information. And if we are unable to get any extra information, I'd vote to push it until rescue comes to save us from the island. Then, I'll take my chances to not push it in order to leave the island and hopefully get home. Until rescue comes we don't have anything to do on the island other than sitting around on the beach anyway, and we have 40+ people for this chore. So taking shifts to push the button isn't much of a burden either. Pushing it seems to be the logical and safer choice unless there's another danger like "the others" attacking or something. - Locke and Jack have a leadership competition. They have been the natural leaders of the survivors and their disagreements began to really heat up lately. John believes they're on this island for a reason, Jack's only focus is keeping people safe and seek rescue if possible. Jack doesn't want to push the button because Locke believed it's their destiny to get into this hatch and now he believes it's their destiny to push the button. I suspect Jack would easily decide to push the button if he stumbled upon the hatch himself and get into it without Locke's involvement because it's the safer choice. However he can't give in that easy because now as it means accepting faith and Locke's "destiny" idea. That's why he's so angry talking to Desmond. He needs some logical base from Desmond, some proof to choose either pushing or not pushing the button based on facts, rather than faith. However, Desmond can't give him that concrete reason. So, Jack needs to choose between accepting to Locke's destiny idea and push a seemingly insignificant button on faith alone or don't push the button just because it doesn't make sense but risk people's lives who he's been trying to keep safe for 44 days. The person they found in the hatch being Desmond, who he met during the big miracle happened to him in the past doesn't help him to risk people's lives based on "it doesn't make sense" either. I mean meeting the only "miracle man" again in this hatch after many years, doesn't make sense either. All of those combined is why he can't can't take the risk and goes back to tell the code. - John on the other hand wants to include Jack in this because he thinks he needs to convince Jack he's on the island for a reason. He believes it won't work if the other leader Jack doesn't agree, so it's irrelevant that 40 other people there who can push the button along with him, it has to be Jack because people follow him and they'll also push the button. He believes it's meaningless and it would be short term if he can't convince Jack to be a part of this "destiny" he's following.

@letsrock1729

I don't think Jack is just affected by the coincidence of Desmond being on the island. It's because the day he met him at the stadium was the day he also discovered he had performed a miracle and fixed Sarah, against all odds. And Desmond even openly spoke about miracles to him. So their first encounter has taken on far more significance than if they had randomly chatted about the weather or something. Maybe this is why he returns to the hatch after Desmond runs off into the jungle...because although he isn't a believer by nature, seeing Desmond again has reminded him that a miracle DID happen on the day they first met (even though he has probably tried not to dwell on this miracle since then). So now, having this second encounter with Desmond has probably raised all kind of confused feelings about things he can't scientifically/logically explain. This is such a great episode, both on-island and off...thanks guys ❤

I liked Larissa's answer to the question of "do you think something bad will happen if the button is not pushed". I would have answered the same thing. I don't know. This is just as valid an answer as yes or no. The important thing is that if someone wants to dedicate themselves to pressing the button, there is nothing stopping them except those who think they shouldn't. When the button is pressed, we know that nothing is happening. It is the problem of those who push to decide to eliminate the possibility of the uselessness of their action. I wouldn't have pushed it. If other people like Locke want to do it, fine for them. But they don't have to ask me to choose between pushing or not. I can choose not to choose. “Don’t tell me what I can’t do”, John. It's still weird that, if Desmond thinks that not pushing the button will result in the end of the world, he decides to run away. Run away where? It's the end of the world. If that happened, whether I stayed in France or went to Brazil wouldn't change anything. I will die but at least without wasted effort.😂
@letsrock1729
@letsrock1729 8 күн бұрын
It's probably just a natural human instinct to get as far away from the source of potential disaster as possible, even if it makes no difference in the long run. I would probably waste a lot of effort before dying, if I was in Desmond's shoes 😆

I like that Larissa voted "maybe" rather than yes or no. This may help explain why Kelvin and Desmond pushed the button. Surely, if there is even a single doubt, you have to push the button? Locke has no doubt, but Jack had maybe a single doubt, so he had to push it. Maybe is a very powerful word in this situation.

Apollo bars are a fake brand, but they turned out to be real because between season 4 and 5 they sold them as a marketing move. The impressive thing was, there were "temporary shops" all over the world, I managed to get one here in Italy. Lost marketing team was insane back then, the first "Lost experience" after season 2 was crazy. About the button: rational thinking involves doubt, and faith involves blind belief in what's happening. So faith would always win in a clash, in a moment of doubt (that's why everybody question Jack's actions and never Locke's). As I always say, the status quo (pushing the button) worked fine, so it's a smart choice to keep pushing it until further information come, even if you believe it's all fake. As you guys said, the real challenge was to NOT push the button. That's why I feel the final moment was a little forced on the Jack/Locke duality, because the thing could have been solved quickly by anybody. But it was a good moment to polarize the audience for the future. I'm thrilled to see Mayra's reactions in the next 20 episodes. Oh, about what you said about Jack, Rodrigo: I agree, Jack is struggling with something that he can't really explain, but also because someone reminded him "the real world". I mean, we see almost everyone struggling with their past selves, Locke most of all. Even Jack can be vulnerable, he cried when Sawyer reminded him about his father, of course he would be taken by strong emotions by someone reminding him one of the most difficult time of his life. I mean, meeting someone is weird, but not impossible.. in my opinion Jack wasn't stressed only by seeing Desmond as a person

I think the real point why he was crying wasn't even mentioned by anyone: He's not with his wife anymore!! 😅 I'm sure there's at least SOME sort of regret in him. He's reminded perhaps about old times, when life was "good" still. And sad that he's alone again. We still don't know why or what happened but I always assumed that THAT was the main reason why he's crying. He's crying because he's not with her anymore. He was happier when that was the case and I'm sure, if he and Sarah were still together, there would have been no crying in his answer. He would have just said "Oh... Yeah, I married her! 😇🥰" ...... 🤷‍♂️
