Any news on trying to make this build only trigger once every two activations? Maybe it would work to put some Shears in the dispenser to make it fizzle half the time?
@Firstdanjosh
@Firstdanjosh 27 күн бұрын
Hiya, not currently, but I have built a version that is cheaper to build in the nether as the modules are further apart, you can see it if you look at my newest video, while the sheer idea is quite novel, you would not be able to guarantee that the bore will allways work 50% of the time and this may cause it to hit the wall ahead, I have put some work into making the bore trigger once every two but that too was random at the time and would end in the same way as the sheers ocationally.

It shouldn't have, a common mistake is one of the observers is placed in the incorrect direction, most commonly the observer second closest to the front underneath the bore, this was quite a fast point of the video ad does cause this type of behaviour. Bit it could've also been your bore was too close to the wall ahead. I am sorry that you had issues with the bore but as far as I can tell it works fine in my world and I use my own video to build it most of the time 😂.

1 of your observers could be facing the wrong way, specially the one closest to the front, it its beedy eyes aren't looking where the bore is going it won't want to fire the tnt. If it is facing the right way, than make sure you are using a dispenser droppers don't work here. Please also make sure that the observer on the bottom of the bore is also facing the right way as the bore will blow itself up if that one is facing when wrong way

@Firstdanjosh
@Firstdanjosh 3 ай бұрын
Yes, glow Stone is much less blast resistant than the stone blocks used in the bore, so it is correct that you would find that a couple of them would have been broken especially if they are within a couple blocks of the ancient debris at the front, it is best to not use any glowstone close too the front of the bore

Finally built this in our survival realm - it's BRILLIANT - here's what I found - it's totally solved our redstone shortage, much more effective than a witch or raid farm for late-game worlds - makes lots of diamonds and lapis too, definitely faster than branch mining or caving (idk if it's definitively the fastest method but it's very effective) - digging out the space for the machine produced basically enough redstone and slime (by chance) to build the machine without needing our existing supplies - you need a lot of gunpowder obv - we use Silentwisperer's ghast farm which is pretty effective (a pain to build tho) - swap out a few of the solid blocks for glowstone or something else to light up the area (I also stuck a crafting table in bc it's handy) - we ended up making six linked modules, you might be able to fit more in a sim distance 4 world, but six seems to be fairly idiot proof - great machine, great tutorial, fun to use, not that hard to make, wish we'd built it sooner

This is a really really good design. For anyone seeing this comment questioning it. It does work. Just be prepared to mine a large area if wanting to have multiple modules. Also does need tending to for gravel and lava. Do make sure that the ancient debris side of the bore is not too close to the wall as it will mess with the TNT and blow some of the bore up, not really a big deal it is just a few blocks. It does also use a lot of TNT (as expected) definitely worth it.

What's the total height of the machine. It would be really helpful to know full measurements (x,y,z) of blocks needs to be removed to build one unit. Also I built Silent's tunnel bore which is Katty Rose's design but sometimes it blows parts of machine. Is there a fix to that one?
@Firstdanjosh
@Firstdanjosh 4 ай бұрын
For just one module you need 7 blocks of height with the bore being 1 block above the floor, 30 blocks for the length with atleast 6 blocks infront of the ancient debris before the bore is built and spare blocks behind to work in. You can then dig as many blocks for the width as you need for modules. I am unsure if there is ways to repair the tunnel bore you have stated, I do not normally work with other youtubers designes but if I had to make an assumption, it would be caused by chunk borders and generall random chance and if that is true there is not much that can be done to fix it

As long as the tunnel bore fits inside your simulation distance, it will work, you can use this in the nether if you want but it may not be as tnt efficient. 5 modules should take up less than the 64 blocks provided by sim distance 4 (the minimum) so you should be fine 👍

Hello! I was curious about the purpose of the ancient debris in front of the machine, as I have seen other tunnel bore designs, such as one by Spoonmuppet, that don't use ancient debris. Thanks!
@Firstdanjosh
@Firstdanjosh 5 ай бұрын
Hi, this tunnel bore uses ancient debris as it does not have a timing circuit at the back to launch the tnt qt a specific time so it would not need debris. This one simplifies the backend and reduces slime usage as a means to balance it out. Also I know spoonmuppet quite well and we are good friends 👍
@Firstdanjosh
@Firstdanjosh 5 ай бұрын
The purpose is to alow the tnt to wait to explode infront of the bore instead of the timing circuit, since debris is movable and blast resistant
