Thank you for this video. I have a T5.1 and I’ve had a couple of issues with the door, I stupidly thought were separate issues. One was slide door not shutting easily (comes off runners) and the other central locking not working on the slide door. After watching your video it led me to see that the lower runner needs replacing and therefore the electric locking mechanism not lining up.

Hi, thanks for the video. I'm tackling my anti rattle strips right now and I've ordered strip C. I just wondered how they are working with the window sliding against the rubber strip? The originals are flocked, presumably to provide less resistance than rubber against glass.

Hi, I've recently found your channel and subscribed. I've been watching the story of the XKR restoration and I'm particularily impressed with the workmanship of Karl. I'm midlands based and I believe you said he was also based there. I would like to see if he would be interested in doing some small bodywork rust areas on my car. Could you possibly tell me where he works or supply a contact number.

When you mention the later cars had the different/rounded type nuts you pictured, what date about would start the range of later cars? Mine was made May '02 and I'm looking to replace the lugs.

Hi. Thanks for posting. Mine will not go into drive most days without first passing drive. In addition if you go all the to 4th its hard to get 4th to light up then back to second you have to pass second and go back. Also park light up but you have to jiggle it then you here a small click. Might this procedure help this?
@ccuk3 ай бұрын
This procedure is easy so worth a try. I believe the earlier 5 speed gearbox uses the cable on both sides of the J gate, so if that is what you have then it sounds positive. If you have a later 6 speed the left side of the J gate works electronically so issues on that side are not affected buy the cable adjustment.
@tainchains4 ай бұрын
question. my j gate won't start in drive. drive doesn't light up. to get into drive you have to go past drive and then back to drive. and you cannot select second. it won't light up. Can this help that?
@ccuk3 ай бұрын
If it is badly adjusted then this process could help. Good luck and let me know how you get on.

@eastwoodsadventures3 ай бұрын
@ccuk mine had had cables replaced, though why they would remove the disc I have no idea, but then the car had other faults caused had missed by so-called Jaguar specialists. Doubt it would be missing from New as it instantly faults when moving stick to left.

Koni Special Active is recommended on forums what I've seen... also considering them for my T6... I think it's safe choice.... or ST-X full suspensions, which are height adjustable... I'm little worried that the height won't be satisfying with Koni and I will be elaborating with correct sets of lowered springs, which is a lot of hussle
@ccuk3 ай бұрын
I have refitted my original standard springs now and the ride it amazing (in my opinion). It is floaty but now controlled. The lowering springs are usual too stiff and ruin the ride. These shocks certainly are a huge upgrade to the standard ones, although the lower you go the less improvement you are likely to get.

Hi, have you still got the van? Any idea what the gap should be between the front wing and door, between the front door and sliding door, rear of sliding door, and what the gap should be either the top or bottom of the doors or know where I can find the information out ? I’ve just resprayed my van and my ocd is in overdrive trying to get the alignment right, want it to be spot on before I fit side windows
@ccuk3 ай бұрын
Hi I do have my van. I don't know what the gaps should be. I would set them so they look even. I would imagine that is what they would do at the factory.

It simply amazes me how these cars rust! I'm in the US and I've lived my whole life about 1-2 miles from the south shore of Lake Ontario. The area is the 3rd highest snowfall area (for a highly populated area anyway) in the US - and right smack in between #1 and #2! - and we're like one of the salty road capitals on the planet because roads stay open around here at all costs! I well remember the 60's and 70's how cars used to rot. 5 years old and they would have holes rusting through. 6 or 7 and the car became relegated as a "winter car"! Still mechanically fairly sound, often not a lot of miles, but with bodies rusted beyond salvage. Over the years I've watched how American and Asian manufacturers have finally attempted to curb rust, usually by hot body dips during assembly into a tank of rust preventative. And it's made a significant difference, those cars today don't rust nearly as bad as they used to. Then there's Jaguar! I also have an '04 XKR (conv.) and it has never, and never will, see snow! We don't drive our nice, prized cars in winter here! But I see more pictures and videos of these X-100's that had been driven through a few winters and they are as rusted out as those cars I remember us having back in the days. My car listed for nearly $90,000 new, yet it's built with essentially zero rust protection. It's like Jaguar actually WANTED these to rust! They only made 90,000 of these over 10 years, that makes them rare in my book. These cars just cannot, and never should be, driven in winter. Ever.
@ccuk3 ай бұрын
I agree with your assessment. It amazes me that such a nice car with a hefty price tag did not get better rust protection. On the plus side it makes these beautiful cars more precious as they get older.

@ccuk3 ай бұрын
Hi I am sorry but the only contact I have is on Instagram. I have searched elsewhere for you but cannot find anything.
@flyurway5 ай бұрын
I will never understand the mindset to drive these cars in winter! They're 2wd GT cars, not 4wd trucks. They're damn near a liability on the snow, but the worst thing is they're so prone to rust, I can't believe how these things rust. I think you could put a photo of salt next to the car, come back a week later and have rust! With all the major mass-produced nothing cars available, why doesn't it make enough sense to drive those and preserve these? I mean, I don't wear a nice suit when I pull a transmission!

Thinking of buying one of these. Dunno where you get those figures from though for the percentage increase. Your max/min figures quoted over the two tests were 83/70. That's 13db more which is only 18% increase at that widest point. A 60% increase from 70 would be about 112db. It does sound better though. Those were standard van speakers, not aftermarket I take it.
@ccuk3 ай бұрын
Hi the speakers are aftermarket. Note our perception of how loud a speaker sounds doubles every time you increase the output by 10 dB. So the volume when you go from 70 to 80 is double. I hope this helps.

First thing to do is check that the roller at the top is tight ! and then the bottom..... If the roller at the top is loose that can be the main culprit.... Great video.... Yeh one of the very few videos i could find which had a depth and practical solutions.. Excellent thanks.... Hi John, I do like the look of the original radio unit, so taking your advice, I’ve changed the 4x speakers, an improvement, but now going for the rest of your advice and ordered the amp and ISO adapter, will fit in the spring… Thank you

After watching several of these headrest fix videos, yours was clearly the best. The details on exactly how to release the leather was by far the easiest to follow. The "official" Jag method is definitely inferior to just removing the end cap and reattaching it.

Thanks Ian
