great to see bifacial is 20% more production, but what is the price difference? it would be good to compare cost of production/panel with microinverter based on 10yr lifespan to know if that 20% extra is cost effective

Nice job. Been waiting for this. Just curious now this test was started a year ago what difference you’d get with new hybrid inverter tec. The hybrid inverters on the powerwall3 (60volt)and the sigenstor(100volt) have a lower start up voltage than the sunsync used(125volt). It’s all interesting stuff. Curious if the differences are panel based or inverter based.

Is it possible for an average 2 bedroom end terrace house with say 8 south facing panels to generate enough electricity that you don't have any bills other than the standard charge. Looking at cost of systems to lower my bills for when I retire to keep my monthly bills as low as possible due to pension limitations. After watching reams of videos still cant see if it is worthwhile.

Great work and well done for producing data to test your claims. A few of my takeaways/points: - The performance gap was bigger than I expected. I'm impressed! - I'm no expert so I could be mistaken but if that's the DC-AC performance loss, Sunsynk is lying on their datasheet or something isn't quite right. - Please, please, please use zero-axis graphs when reporting data. You have a valid point, no need to tarnish your image by making it look bigger than it is by using an axis that starts at 70% of the bar chart. - It's a pity you couldn't test regular panels with the microinverters and REA panels with the string inverter as that would've provided solid evidence for both technologies independently but obviously that would have been impractical 😅 - Personally, I think you missed an opportunity to hammer home a hidden win there: the REA/Enphase system was 18% more productive in summer but a whopping 60% more productive in December, when electricity use is often higher. Great job though, the solar industry needs MUCH more of this kind of thing!

Hi Ben, great video! I can vouch that the REA bifacial panels with Enphase microinverters definitely outperform string panels as claimed by the manufacturer. I have plenty of comparison data to back this up. (As you know I have a spreadsheet for that 😂). One thing worth mentioning is that where the REA-Enphase combination truly excels is when installed on roofs with shading. The difference is significant-my shaded garage roof with REA/Enphase even outperforms my main roof with string panels, which is completely unshaded. 👍

Boilers are perfect for the uk. We have an abundance of clean North Sea gas. That should be jobs for the people who supply cheap gas to the uk. To keep prices low jobs high skills high and a booming economy. Instead the government have been hoodwinked into thinking that fitting millions of heat pumps that are inefficient and manufactured abroad are the best option. So much so they have to regulate them into existence. It’s a joke!

Question: If you can only charge a powerwall at 5kW max then whats the point of being able to hook up up to 20kW of solar into one powerwall?
@Heatable

The solar can supply the house first, then any excess goes to the Powerwall (if it has capacity spare) the rest goes to the grid. The max charge limit is rarely going to be an issue for the average UK system.

I’m in Australia and I want the Powerwall however installers are pushing me to BYD as my house is 3 phase. The BYD is terrible for software, doesn’t automatically switch over in power outages, it’s only benefit is it supports each phase

Great video, terrific production values. Question please. I have a solar array, from early 2011 with a very high FIT payment level. Can I fit a Powerwall and still receive the same level of FIT? Also could I have another solar array too, even if it needs to be separate from the original and still receive the FIT for the original set up. Sorry for so many questions, but I'd really like a Tesla Powerwall and if possible more solar. But I'd not want to sacrifice the very good FIT I'll receive for another 12 years.
@edc1569
@edc1569 14 күн бұрын
I believe the powerwall 3 can work just like the power wall 2 and soak up excess generation from your existing FIT inverter. You would need to keep your existing inverter so your FIT generation is metered. You could also add additional solar directly to the PV connections on the Powerwall 3. There will be some combined limitations but I suspect it could pick up 5kW from your existing inverter and approximately another 15kW (maybe a little less) from its internal PV connections, which is a lot of power for a 11kWh battery.
@Heatable
@Heatable 13 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment. The team are really working hard to improve the content. To answer your FIT question - You can only replace the inverter of a FIT system with the same KW rating (PW3 should have a rating suitable). You can add storage, either DC or AC coupled without affecting FIT criteria, you can also charge from the grid on cheap rates. You cannot - increase the size of the inverter that array is coupled too or export battery energy and be paid under SEG. Re the other array, we can fit a microinverter system, then AC couple those to the PW3, this will give the full power benefit and wont affect SEG. Please contact the team if you would like to know more.

Hi, thanks for your comment. Grid approval is generally broken down in to two parts. Demand (charge rate) and export (energy sent to the grid).
