Credit to these crazy kids who fused prog rock with ultra riffy metal-like rock. Just what I needed as a 20 something young man (at the time). You carried me through those slow, difficult times of my youth. Go Flyers.

We use to cover a lot of their material given the Baltimore audience. It is fun stuff to play. Palumbo seems very tired here. They sort of came out about the time of tight bands like the Dixie Dregs, and Steely Dan when they were in their prime. America got into the progressive scene too late. By the time they started rolling the music changed direction to simpler more mainstream stuff.

John was clearly having one or more issues with his monitor, so that may be some frustration at work here.

Great band and song...but does the barefooted slob on the keyboard really need to conduct and keep time in the opening instrumental at 2:15? these guys can play and keep time in their sleep...wish they played it at the faster tempo like they used to... Otherwise great performance.

I've been a fan of this band since the 70s and I can't understand why they are so casual about their live show. I mean, the music is great, but the fucking keyboard player looks like he just wandered in off the beach. Shorts? No shoes? that his look? I'd hate to see his feet up close. Roadies are wandering around the stage like this is a rehearsal and John's walking around flatfooted like he's in a haze. Rick often seems like the guy who understands the band is putting on a show. I know they're playing for the faithful fans, but Jeeze...put in some effort.

Hit the nail on the head, I believe the attitude contributes to their lack of commercial success. I got the feeling when I saw them at Tally Ho last Nov it was a F*** It attitude about the whole thing by John. It's a job that brings in some money, but maybe he's just depressed they never "made it". Playing at a 25% filled (maybe) venue has to be depressing. Great music like you said, with the highlight for the band being the T Petty tribute. Only time John seemed fully awake;).

@@billwine629No offense to Palumbo but l think he should have stayed the 'Brian Wilson' of the band. Their artistic peak was Safety In Numbers, followed by Live Sky, with Gary Lee Chappell on vocals. Other than the first album and World In Motion the band was better off with Palumbo as the writer in the background. I saw them live in 1996 and it was a great show, but JP oozed attitude the whole show. The brilliance of Witkowski was really what kept it together. Regardless, a band who deserved more recognition....and the fact they they were not was partly their (his?) own fault.

I'm a 70's drummer and boy was I ready Mind Baby is my personal favorite of theirs they got screwed by bad record distribution and they weren't mainstream enough for record companies I guess they're destined for prog rock greatness but I really like their stuff very different I always warm up as a drummer to the beat from Mind Baby that throws other musicians as they've never heard it and they flip at the weird syncopation-----lmao

Read a long article about how their publicist only managed to make their albums and airtime hit at roughly the same time in only one place: Baltimore, MD. Any guesses where they are absolutely legendary? - note: I'm pretty sure I was withing bicycling distance (I didn't have a licence) of their second "rebirth" in Baltimore County.
