Have you figured out how much energy it takes to melt plastic and then shape it into tiles? By the time it is shredded, heated and reshaped into a new product it is not "GREEN" anymore. A little GREEN in his pocket, though!
@mitindenis16 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Can you offer plastic recycling technology without using energy?

Making a more durable roof using recycled plastic is not only what the planet needs but might be the solution to all the plastic strewn everywhere in all countries. Pure genius!

Nice concept. I wonder how this product can be recycled at the end of its life cycle. I don't see how this mixture can be separated.

Could the sand filler be replaced with waste builders' rubble?
@mitindenis16 жыл бұрын
No, it couldn't. But you can try to grind it to sand-like state, may be it will work.
@m0rc0v6 жыл бұрын
the builders' rubble is different all the time... Unless you separate the "ingredients" it's hard to get a constant quality of the final product

good idea did it in SA lost a ot of monies buying equipment, but found equipment manufacturing ratio is to slow to become sustainable also any plastic cant be used and has to be certain types which recyclables are competing with therefore price becomes a problem.Also getting it thru building standards is a huge problem to get Agrement approved due to fire laws in roofs

lovely, really, but where does the sand come from?
This tech isn't new. It simply did not get any movement in the US due to petroleum dominance. Plastic being a petroleum product, the oyl barons have their say so on what gets made and what does not. The combination of styrene and linear plastic is a great combination of strength and durability. Tensile strength of one inch thick tiles with a quartzite sand additive as road building materials would be longer lasting and much more inexpensive than tar or cement. God forbid that would ever happen. All the toxic corporations might loose a dime. Recycling is repulsive to wasteful corporations intent upon creating debt and lack.

Larry Lund , Now a days plastic scrape is also getting price, The cheaper manufacturing concept will die sooner, This project will not last more, But plastic recycling to granuals have better future

It burns, please do not build a campfire on a plastic roof.
@robertlawson85726 жыл бұрын
Throughout North America, Canada and other countries asphalt sheet and shingles are used. These are flammable, and they are short lived. Cedar wood shingles are also used in many countries, and in any case, once the (generally timber) structure of a roof has burnt through, there's little to be saved. (and all the plastics contained within the house have burnt, anyway) We're better to have the plastic on our roofs than on our beaches, it dawns on me.
@samiam2477 жыл бұрын
Anyone considering this type of product has never witnessed burning plastic, take a very small piece of styrofoam packing or a small piece of plastic bottle and place it in your wood stove I promise you will be frightened by how violently it burns !
@SlipKnotRicky7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, some stray fireworks could be a disaster, a top-down incineration!
@SlipKnotRicky7 жыл бұрын
Because it is plastic and most plastic burns. Are you saying it will not burn?
@samiam2477 жыл бұрын
Plastics are oil based they hold much more energy than anyone could imagine, once a fire like that starts it can't be extinguished by traditional means, it has to burn off all it's energy.
@m0rc0v6 жыл бұрын
Or you can add some "special" chemicals to the bloody plastic, to make it fucking fire-resistant !.... !!!

And you can be absolutely sure that the Ukrainian Directors of this company will be making a bit more than the English guys, they always look for a quick buck at the expense of the foreign investors. Ten years in Kiev opened my eyes to this.

@deanhenthorn18907 жыл бұрын
I would be interested in plastic roofing tiles. The fiberglass tar blend one now offered can't withstand hail or high winds. And as far as the house burning up scenarios, most houses burn from the inside outwards. Leaving the roof last to collapse. I believe there's a higher risk of damage to your home by storms than by wildfires. At least in my Country!
