Amazing. He stops time. Every Guitar riff Is like a ray of light between the fog of the "drones". The falsetto and the vocoder dissolve the voice into pure music, so that when the voice Is pure Is even more impressive. Harmonies overlap and carry the listener like a wave. It's like listening to some kind of psychadelic prayer, even if both this terms are somewhat wrong. Not Easy to describe in a language that Is not mine.

He's come such a long way from those early days of The Growlers and now he's the only one left still singing this old song; the Burden of the Captain.

You're right. But also, he's upgraded. This band is much more professional and skilled than his bandmates in The Growlers. Also, seems like the days of the band coming onstage drunk are gone. When he sang "I know nothing stays the same / There's always change /But you and I will remain." it was so obvious that he felt that way about his audience. No turning back.

@@edstipe Idk man the change before City Club was pretty harsh but I feel like it really started to click live between them after a while. I saw them at a festival in 2017 and it was amazing, especially the new keyboard player added a lot of spice. But to me the essential part was always Brooks voice and vocals and the melodies and distinct guitar sound of Matt which had a certain rawness. I don't know if this new band still has that core identity of the former Growlers, it doesn't really seem so, seems more like it's something different (especially the lead guitar). Haven't seen them live though so not sure how it really "feels". But yeah Brooks said that his sound is always evolving so I guess "nothing stays the same" is indeed the motto. Btw who wants the really old Growlers sound can listen to the Chupacabras (I think one of their former members is in that group).

M and Sons, aka 70's and this additional person called Eddie , who had the courage to sing a Bob Dylan classic 'Masters of War." after and before science of Pearl Jam, joins onstage. I wish I could have been there. As Neil Young penned, keep on rocking in the free world. its the end of the world as we know it, but I feel fine. Music can change the stupidy by political masters.
