I was driving with my kids in 2018 Silverado completely stock, no modifications at all and suddenly...lost power for about 45 secs... Pulled off as best as i could... Got the alert "theft detection" and to cycle driver side window up and down.. restarted the truck and the turn signals were sending a fault and flashing faster than normal... I was thinking the worst ... Checked all fuses and relays.. wondering what in the world is going on.. then o found your video and tried it.. they were full of corrosion and dirt.. electrical cleaning spray and dielectric grease .. no more issues... You saved me a ton of $ and time .... Thank you ao much... Very grateful to you for making this video.... I find it crazy that one electrical plug related to turn signals can shut the entire vehicle... I think Im gonna be switching to something more "old school" maybe a 80's bronco or something i can actually work on

Hoping this comment gets noticed. I have a 2010 Silverado 1500. Brand new head lights and tail lights. Wired correctly with load resistors. Checked all the fuses as well. But god forbid if I turn that switch to the right or left it keeps hyper flashing. Do you recommend checking those back connections at the junction box still as a potential fix?

I'm not sure, but it's worth a peak under the bumper. I used a "CRC" product called QD Electronic Cleaner, but any electric contact cleaner should work. Come to think of it, 2002 might still have the flasher relay. Either way, good luck and let us know how it goes.

Got to love KZfaq. Glad I found this. My 09 GMC Sierra did the fast blinking with nothing happening at the left rear. This was after a fuel pump replacement. Found that connector after watching this video and found it wasn't fully seated. Had to clean the dirt and corrosion around the plug so it would seat completely and my signal works again. I need to get rid of this old crusty truck lol.

@@JimiKiwi It didnt work for me it was a shot in the dark as it is my front left side. Flashers work fine. I have reseated the plugs in the rear. Changed the Switch on the steering column. Its just funny they work fine for about 5 seconds than the front ones dont blink any more and the rear ones blink fast. All bulbs have been replaced including side marker bulb and all Sockets look good. I ended up trading the truck in for cash late yesterday and the blinker problem never came up. But thanks for this post it was worth the try.

I referenced your video to check my 2011 Sierra 1500 this morning. My driver's side signals don't respond in any way but the hazards do so I was thinking this had an outside chance of being the source of the issue. Still I really appreciated the video and it got me looking at a part of the truck I wasn't aware of. Last week I changed out the rear differential oil so I got to see how dirty and rusty the area was (the top of the spare which may have never been dropped before this was totally filthy). I was actually surprised to see how clean the insides of the four plug connectors in the area were. I'm going to look more around the Body Control Module (BCM) wiring and possibly the BCM itself. Thank you Jimikiwi!!!

Did you fix the problem? I’m having somewhat the same issue When I hit my remote key to lock and unlock my 07 silverado, both turn signals on the driver side blink once but when I try flipping on the turn signal or hazards, they won’t blink or nothing, however my driver side towing mirror has a turn signal bulb on the back of it and that does blink when turn signal is activated I’m sure I’ll figure it out on my next day off

Thanks, man, this was just what I needed. My '08 Silverado started flashing fast, but all the elements were still lighting up. Popping the leftmost (driver side) blue connector was the one that I think did it. I did them all, off and back on, didn't notice any dirt or corrosion, but the contact must be improved anyway, 'cause now I've got normal blink speeds! Very helpful and well done.

After a heavy snow, I used a set of chains that whipped the ever-loving daylight out of the wheel well (speed increased without pullout for removal). @JimiKiwi 3 жыл бұрын
For light corrosion, any electrical contact cleaner should work. I use permatex or wd40 brand contact cleaner. Not for any reason. It's just what is locally available. I cut up a nail file to get into the connector for heavier corrosion. Don't forget to add some dielectric grease before plugging it all back together. Good luck!

I forgot to ask, but what did you use to clean the contacts with? Would a break clean spray work? Or just getting in there with a brass brush and cleaning first then spray with brake clean or carb cleaner

Any auto parts or Walmart carry cleaners specifically formulated to clean electrical connections without damage. I don't know what the difference is, but is a good thing to have around your shop/garage. Sometimes the cleaner will do the trick. Sometimes a bit of scrubbing is needed. Brass brush is a good idea.
