Just think for a moment. Tabuu came out of nowhere. He tried to do something, but to what goal no one knows. All we know is that he had the power to do so. He could link different worlds and places together. He could pretty much find anyone he wanted to find. And now look at SSBU. He's a spirit, and as a spirit, he's willing to help you out to stop Galeem and Dharkon. Why? During SSBB, was he perhaps secretly trying to unite worlds and their best fighters in an attempt to prepare for these two god-like beings in SSBU? For the universe, or for his own power? For both? And then there's the swarm thing from SSB4. It controlled the hands and did what it could to fight whoever came to it, for reasons unknown. Like Tabuu, it seems as if it could travel worlds. In SSBU, it becomes multiple spirits, and all are willing to help you defeat Galeem and Dharkon. The hands are either controlled by those two beings, or friendly and assisting the fighters. Does Tabuu and the swarm have the same goals? To prepare only the finest fighters to beat these beings? Does the swarm possess all hands, or is it its own being? Do Tabuu and the swarm have beef with each other at the same time? The hands weren't exactly friendly with Tabuu in SSBB, and if the swarm was controlling the hands in SSBB, then they undoubtedly don't like each other. Yet despite the possible beef, they possibly share similar goals/strategies and eventually end up working together in the end. I'm having a field day today
