For the price & the fact it’s a performance car it’s by far the best all around hot hatch out there

Good evening. I’ll add my two cents here. I have a 2017 M240i 6-speed coupe, and I had my local dealer install the M-Performance muffler. What pushed me to do it was the very annoying loud buzz/rattle that my stock muffler valve was making. I considered having the exhaust valve wired permanently open, but I wanted a more aggressive sounding muffler, and after considering Dinan, Eisenmann, Akrapovic, and Remos mufflers, but opted for the BMW M-Performance instead, being I didn’t want it crazy loud. I was told by a local performance tuning shop that the sound of the M-Performance and Dinan muffler sounds very similar. Of all the cars that I’ve heard that have an M-Performance muffler installed (factory or aftermarket), the one that fits on my car is the best sounding one I’ve heard. I’m told that the brilliant B58 engine in my F22 car is the reason why it sounds much better than other BMW models. It’s worth noting that this M-Performance muffler has NO valve, so it’s always “open”. On startup it is gnarly, and if you engage sport mode or sport+ mode when driving, you get an even nastier growl, along with louder pops and burbles. Personally, I am not a fan of the pops and burbles as I prefer just a raunchier more throaty sound, akin to the sound my suped up 1970 Camero made! I’m now considering installing the Dinan mid-pipe, which deletes both resonators. Apparently, doing this mod doesn’t made the sound much louder (maybe 10% louder), but it will have an even raunchier sound, along with a lot more pops and burbles, if you like that. So, in closing, I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend the M-Performance muffler upgrade. Mine cost me about $1,500 CAD installed. The mid-pipe mod will cost me another $1,500 installed thereabouts.

Had mine a month and my commute to work is 10 miles in stop start traffic and i can't get over 22.5mpg. Am i doing something wrong? I've tried comfort mode and eco and eco only saves me about 0.6 miles every commute.

There isn't any rattles or unbearable noises in a Boxster, especially with the roof up. Yours clearly has an awful aftermarket exhaust which sounds horrid. It's the best handling car on the road, as fast as you like, and a joy fast or slow.

Nice video, can we replace the Adaptive M suspension with coilovers or standard type struts/shocks thus disconnecting the adaptive system? Car has very high mileage so not really worth putting a very expensive system back in. Thanks

you have to allow the gearbox oil to warm up… 7mins-ish then it shifts alot more silky’er Cars like their air cold, their coolant warm, and their oil hot

This exhaust sound is common with these M sport cars, but its not that big a fix as it may sound. There is a spring for exhaust flaps and if that gets loos exhaust starts to rattle. Spring is not expensive and there are diy videos out there to fix it yourself

Bottom line no its not. Its a improvement over stock, but not worth the money, I changed to remus and its allot different. But that's not to say its no good. If it was cheaper say retail price £500 then yes.

That metallic noise when you lift off/change down, do you know what’s causing it? My M140i has recently started making this same noise after 10k miles and an earlier replacement back box because of exhaust rattle. Mine’s a stock exhaust. The noise is on intermittent journeys, and when I take it to the BMW dealer for investigation it typically behaves perfectly without making the noise.

Good test One thing I'd like to add is I've had my qv since November and it's the first time this week I've been able to take out or on dry roads And it's epic The light steering he mentioned really come into its own on the really twisty b Roads and the floaty light sensation shows how light and nimble the car is I found I could throw it in and out of corners with bags of confidence and It handles like its on rails Like being on the wild mouse at Blackpool 🤣 Those who know know What a machine

What feels quicker with driving them both 335D or M140i?

I am currently considering buying a Porsche Boxster s (986) with climate control and heated seats. The car is from 2000, with approximately 80,000 miles (maintenance history available). Why should I not choose this car? Alternatively, I might opt for a 1997 Audi S6 Avant (V8, 290hp) with 110,000 miles. Actually, two totally different cars, both very special.

IMHO, I’d say the C5 Corvette is the closest competition with the Boxster for best sports car for the money (in the US). Two very different machines, but both have some serious bang for the buck. Boxster has nice fit and finish, C5 generally has lower operating/maintenance cost; Porsche handling vs V8 power and aftermarket mods. I’d like one of each, thanks :) Good video.
