And of course, they use asphalt, pretty much guaranteeing it'll have to be fixed more of ten that necessary. That's MDOT for you.

Thank you @FVBmovies. It was a great project. We even found abandoned waterline from the early 1900's (tree trunk wood drilled hollow, wrapped in steel). If you're curious what that looks like, check out this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rZp8dMt5mZ_Rcok.html

Thank you! It's prettty amazing to see all the steps that go into putting it together. They had to close traffic for the concrete beams to get to the sight. A coordinated effort by all.

Well,that didnt go very efficient!First the sand on the road and then take it out again to install the pipes for the rain water and then the sand back on it again.. And where is the bike path???
@tonyawildfong2695
@tonyawildfong2695 6 ай бұрын
Hi Joop, Sand on the road is stockpiled to be used for backfill on the site. Sometimes you work with the space you have and need to stockpile on site to assist the trucks. Or if you are talking about backfilling, pipe placement, filling again, and another pipe placement, It may be because the Wastewater sewer pipe and the water pipe are placed on different levels/depths in the trench. Wasterwater is lower than the water line with a minimum distance between the two lines required. That could be the answer for the different sand backfills. Or it may be different sections of the road. Not sure which clip you are referring to. Hope that helps. Thanks for your observations. And the bike path is shared outside the road - it is double wide for pedestrian section and a bicycle section in the new construction area.

And what about bikers??No place for them on the round about?😠😠
@TeamElmers
@TeamElmers 6 ай бұрын
The white line denotes bike lane. Bikes would navigate the roundabout accordingly, using the full lane with the flow of traffic. We have some race teams that train in Grand Traverse and Leelanau County. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Actually the contractor pays for any errors. The MDOT inspector confirms what was installed meets the contract design and specifications of the project. If not, than it has to be redone.

Concrete bike lanes should have saw-cut crack control joints, not wet-formed, because wet-formed joints are bumpy.

@@teamelmersupdates7134 Thanks. It's not something most people think about, but I became acutely aware of it when my city started doing saw-cut joints in all of their new sidewalks (I don't know if it was a new requirement, but they suddenly started appearing everywhere). Riding a bike over wet-formed control joints feels like driving a car on Michigan freeways: very bumpy. I'm sure people who push baby strollers and shopping trolleys over bumpy sidewalks feel the same way. (I don't make a habit of riding my bike on sidewalks, but sometimes it's necessary.)

Alles is mooi en netjes, maar met welke maximale snelheid mogen auto's daar rijden? Samen met de fietser. Er is geen apart fietspad voor fietsers. Everything is nice and tidy, but at what maximum speed are cars allowed to drive there? Together with the cyclist. There is no separate cycle path for cyclists. 🇳🇱🚲🚕
