What I have noticed in many vedios of baluchori from west Bengal recently that the baluchori weavers are talking about something called baluchor on katan silk.They also showing 3 ply silk. I guess these steps they taking sholving the pblm which you raised in swarnachuri.Even in a Banarasi silk saree vedio I have seen weavers showing Swarnachuri,Paithani silk saree.It seems although these things got GI tag but ppl no londer limiting this to particular geographical area.

I am a handloom saree collector. I was once fooled by a shop in Kolkata. Then I learnt in detail about many Indian weaves and realized that the Jamdani saree I had bought was a fake. Later, the knowledge helped me buy a true handloom Jamdani. Now before buying any particular weave, I do thorough research regarding the process and only then buy. That too either directly from the weaver or from a shop with at least decadea of reputation.
