Took a 744 carat and ground it down to a 294.54 carat... lost almost 450 carat in the process

You did an amazing job cutting & polishing the stone. The depth, color, & brilliance are breathtaking. Everything about your video from the stone itself, the music & presentation were pleasure to enjoy. Thank you.

I'm assuming in gem cutting there's really no making a real mistake? you either end up with a different cut than originally thought or you end up with a smaller one.

How do you arrive at the different angles to grind the various facets? Do you apply geometric-optics principles or use ray-tracing software to compute the most optimal angles for, say, maximum brilliance and dispersion? Years ago I modelled the 8.01-ct (originally 12.76) Pink Jubilee diamond from Rio Tinto's Argyle mine in northern Western Australia. Used POV-Ray (a now-obsolete, open-source ray-tracer) to render it. The mathematics were pretty involved, but it turned out quite well. Seems they discovered during cutting the stone itself was flawed and today the unfinished piece sits in the Melbourne Museum.

My morganite in my ring looks more champagne pink ish this looks amber. It's it because of how large it is or do morganites vary in color ?
