In the scenario where I have a 40 out in 301 or 501 and I hit the D20 with my first dart; can i use the other two darts to another game? Or what would be in the scenario in that?
@10mins
@10mins 2 ай бұрын
The way I play it, you cannot split darts across games. So, if you choose to apply the D20 hit with your first dart to close either of the 01 games, your other two darts do not count. It's the same at the start of the game. If you hit say, 20, 20, D20 and want to use the D20 to open the 301, then the first two darts don't count. Of course, there's nothing to stop you tweaking the rules to suit yourself. One or two people have said in comments that they choose to allow darts to be split. Whatever makes the game most enjoyable for you.

Think of it like a standalone leg of 301 or 501. Once you hit the double you are done. You don't need to throw the other darts.

When I play any variant of golf, I find it easier (and more fun) to mark a 0 or E for even par. Since this variant is a par 3, a score of 9 on the 3rd hole would be marked a 0 or E (for even par). If you are over par, for example 12 on the same hole, you would be +3. If you were doing well and had a mere 7 at the end of the third hole, you would be -2. Golf is a sport you often play against yourself, so knowing that you are close to your best score (I'm at -2 and I'm so close to my record of -4!!!) adds extra fun even if you are behind against better players. Thanks for your excellent explanations and examples. I have a card game that I have created that allows all the classics but adds new ones (like Space Invaders). Key to this "system" is a way to allow players of different skill levels to play relatively evenly. I like to give newbies a taste of success by taking on a higher difficulty and really forcing me to up my game. I'd be happy to share - I'm trying to get it to a Kickstarter at some point. I want more people to come back to this awesome, fun game you can play whilst out lifting a pint with pals!

Try memorizing some likely combinations so that, instead of adding up each time, you just know what it is. In fact, I'm sure you already do that with some combinations. For example, if you hit three single 20s, you probably just know that it's 60 without adding. Right? Start by trying to memorize possible combinations in and around the big numbers. Work on 20 first then move on to 19, and 18. For example, when shooting at the 20 segment 20 20 20 = 60 20 20 T20 = 100 20 T20 T20 = 140 T20 T20 T20 = 180 20 5 5 = 30 20 5 T5 = 40 20 T5 T5 = 50 20 5 1 = 26 20 5 T1 = 28 And so on. You get the idea. Once you've got 20 down pat, do the same around the nineteen segment. Eventually you'll get most of these combinations locked into your memory and you'll only have to do addition when you hit something outside these sets.

Thank you for your input. If you read through all the comments on this thread, you'll see that many people find my suggestions to be a very useful, and others, just like you, think it's complicated. It's actually not complicated once you start using it, but each to their own. We all think differently and what works for one does not necessarily work for another. If you find this complicated then it's not for you, simple as that. Perhaps you have a less complicated way of doing arithmetic in your head. If so, please share.

I notice in your video that your running total is counting up toward 501. I don't know if it's another colloquialism like Math vs Maths, but I have always seen the running total count down from 501 here in the States. Either way the difficulty I have alway run into is calculating my outs at the end in order to plan my next shot. Like I know if I have 80, then 2 D-20's will end it. But if I miss and hit a 5, I now have 75 and have to rack my brain on how to do that in 2 darts, and if I miss my new target on the second dart, again with the last. Obviously this is easier with lower numbers but more difficult with higher ones because after adding I must now subtract from my current total and keep that running total in my head while breaking everthing down. Any tips? I was looking for a diagram like you provided when I found this video. Otherwise I was going to make my own so thanks for that. Good darts 🤜🤛
@10mins
@10mins 5 ай бұрын
No, my running total does not count upwards towards 501. When chalking a game, the score keeper has to add up the total scored, write it down, and then subtract it from the running score. So, at around the 6:10 mark, you'll see I've added up 60 + 15 + 57 for a total of 133 and then subtracted it to get a running count of 368. I have several other videos that cover the question you asked about getting to an out. If you're subscribed to my channel, look for my "Darts Tactics" videos. Also check out the site I've link below for my suggested 3-dart and 2-dart checkout tables. Use the 2-dart checkout table if the first of your three darts does not hit the intended target, or if it bounces out. For example, if your target is 102, you might try T20 S10 D16 (60, 10, 32), but if you hit a single 20 with your first dart, you've got 82 remaining. The 2-dart chart recommends T14 D20 (42, 40). Try to memorize as much as possible. The more you play, the more you'll find that some numbers seem to crop up more than others. Start by trying to memorize the ones you see most often. Your example, in which you are left with 75 after your first dart, occurs a lot. My preferred route is T17 D12 (51, 24). I don't have to stop and think, I have that one memorized. sites.google.com/view/tenminutesofyourtime/home

If that's what works for you, do it that way. I can't say that one method is definitively easier than another because it all depends on the individual. What some find easy, others find hard and vice versa. If you read through the many comments on this post, you'll see that some people think what I'm explaining is ridiculously complicated, and other people say it has helped them a lot. Everyone is different.

My own goal was to just hit something in hole tablo. I still have the change to just hit the wall! I mean cool mathematics tricks, but first you should garandee to throw in a kind small area. Yes, on my first try, with my friend, we try to hit triple 20, the highest score, the half time we just hit something on low half of tablo. After close 30-40 shots my friend hit the target, but quite random. Is hard to control the power of your hand. Maybe the starting practise should be on 2nd game, with just only cycles. But I completely agree from your maths. I have see tone of tacticks on top level championship. Many moves need something more to see the logic even behind the both score, no just your score. If opponent was far away throw some relax moves, if they was behind by a low he go from most aggressive score, usually 180. If close math go from normal plans.
@10mins
@10mins 5 ай бұрын
Yes, it certainly does help if you can hit what you are throwing at. I think it is important to work at both the physical side of throwing and the numbers side of the game at the same time. I've seen players who can throw accurately, but who waste shots throwing at the wrong numbers. My videos deal mainly with the numbers - good board management and solid arithmetic. If you want to improve the physical side of your game, there are plenty of options on KZfaq. I recommend starting with "Dynamite Dave Darts". He has a lot of good advice about stance and throwing action. Of course, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself. Darts for me has always been about the social side - a night out with good friends. Shoot well.

My diagram shows the value of each segment of the board that requires multiplication, with the intention being: "memorize the value and you no longer need to do the multiplication every time". The double bull is 2 x 25, so I show the value 50.

Covid closures in 2020 changed the dart playing landscape. Many of the people I played with bought tablets or iPads in that period so they could play online. By the time we got back together in person, we were in a position to abandon whiteboards and markers and rely soley on scoring apps for our league. Unfortunately, there is currently no app for Trifecta, so we don't play it very often. However, we have recently held a couple of Trifecta tournaments, which have proved popular locally and have begun to attract attention outside of our area. We intend to continue promoting the game and we are trying to figure out how to go about having an app created. Tactically, we haven't changed our stance. We still think it's wise to try and get the double-in for 301 as early as possible. Don't become laser-focused on one game while your opponent is busy building a lead in the other two. Watch what your opponent is doing and react accordingly.

I've been busy with an eclectic mix of activities other than darts, but I am now getting back around to thinking about more dart-related videos. I've been trying to put into practice what I preach in my videos by competing in a few tournaments. The standard is high, and I have not had much success, but it has proved quite exciting. I hope you find the information useful, but don't be a slave to it. I sometimes choose other routes. For example, if I've been hitting well on 19s, I might try to go T19 T19 instead of T20 T18. I've recently switched to starting on T19 instead of T20 when left with 110 (I talk about it in one of my videos). I've also seen some players opt for some odd combinations to leave their favourite double. Mensur Suljovic and his D14, for example.

Do not think of a treble as a treble, for example, do not think of treble 18 as treble 18 but instead think of it as 54, once you have learned this the maths starts to get a bit easier. For example you have a finish of 81, think of it as 57+24 rather than treble 19 double 12 you will learn the finishes quicker doing it this way, and if you add 60 to 81 you now also know the finish for 141 as well as 81.
