Classical bronze is copper 80- 95% and tin 20 to 5 percent period. No silicon or any other metal . All else are bronze variants and not bronze in the classical sense .

Oh yes I really enjoyed your video on bronze I really didn't know much about it other than Olympics awards give bronze out then but I didn't know the history of it or know how it looks when it's the best quality abroad. I really wish they would have more schools that teach you about metals not just about gold silver Platinum but about bronze too and copper and how beautiful it can look people when they see brawn they say well that's not good yet cuz they told you to send bad and I'm so glad you made the videos and teaching people about bronze and if you could please have more people on that do bronze jewelry cuz it's a loss of young people that wants to get in metal and bronze is a beautiful metal and they need to know more about it thank you again for the video.

You aren't doing 'Lost Wax' you're doing ceramic shell. Ceramic Shell casting is the modern way of casting with high tech silica and can take thermal shock which allows most of the wax to be recovered and the wax is Not lost. Lost Wax method is when the wax is completely burned up from a mostly gypsum (plaster) based mold that is around the wax and incasing it. Today that process is also referred to as 'Standard' because it's the old or ancient way to cast bronze (metal) sculpture. Since the main ingredient in the 'Standard' method is plaster it makes the mold very fragile to sudden heat shock. Because of the heat shock issue, the molds have a very slow flame that increases over a day or longer and during this process the wax is burned up. That is the Lost Wax method. The casting method in this video is Not the Lost Wax method.

Thanks for the great video. I cast a statue at home, but it had imperfections. I wonder if you know what would cause lacey/swiss cheese like holes near where a sprue attached to the sculpture?

common middle class folks like art too. They cannot afford 90% copper bronze or ltd editions. Everyone deserves art

If you can learn to go to flea markets, garage sales, and shop auctions, then you can find good, and even great, deals. Even shopping at web sites, one can find repro art for affordable prices. Just know, learn, which is which. Art does not have to be an original piece to be appreciated.

I have what I believe to be a very old chinese male foo dog because of crudeness of underbelly which I assume that bronzes were not perfection throughout the sculpture if a bronze were produced hundreds of years ago .The piece has a very heavy black patina ( not paint), but carbon buildup.

Anything from China (or Far East in general) is generally crap as they mix anything with copper. I think you do disservice to the rest of the (western) world when you say "outside the US" uses less than your 95% - our castings use 96% copper!
