Well, i usually only deal with old/cheap PC's, newest ryzen i have is my 1700x :) so i don't know much about the more recent stuff, and what you should get always depends on the price. I would get the best deal you can find in your country.

Thank you, nice to hear somebody likes these videos. When i do repairs that are generally less documented, i make videos about them. That often means i cover very niche topics, which means almost no views sometimes, and i pack them with as much info as i can rather than focus on entertainment value, which means a lot of people stop watching the video early, which hurts performance in algorithm. Also my commentary is often called "robotic" and monotonous, which i can understand why. I try to add relevant tags but i don't want to falsely tag things that are popular but not actually covered in the video. What specific tags would you suggest adding to this video?

Glad to hear this is of some use to someone! I made a video about this since i can't find much detailed videos about glass-only repair, especially in english... i think at least in part that may be because only-glass repair is so time-consuming doing this professionally in many "first-world" countries is not worth it. So even if the display is fine it is thrown away in repair because the time spent on it by the technician is too expensive :( I just want to fix stuff and not throw repairable things away.

I've been thinking trying Opencore bootloader on a real mac (to get some sort of a bootscreen on non-mac GPU) if i will at some point try upgrading a mac GPU. Not sure how well that would work though.

What's the difference with frame and no frame?
@optimallyobscureperformanc6264
@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 2 ай бұрын
With frame usually means that the screen is pre-attached to a frame, so no need to glue the screen to your old frame yourself. No frame means you'll have to extract the old frame (detach broken screen from it) and glue the new screen to the old frame. Sometimes, though, "with frame" can also just mean that it comes with the thin plastic bezel around the screen, so check the listing carefully before ordering a screen.

@@optimallyobscureperformanc6264do new screen + new frame has better consistent gluing since it has been done with machine? Or it just doesn't have any significant difference? If I buy new screen with attached new frame, do I need to transfer all components from old frame to new frame?
@optimallyobscureperformanc6264
@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 16 күн бұрын
@@firdauszainudin7118 well, usually when you order with frame, it is well glued, without frame depends how well you glue it to the frame. Yes, if you get the screen with frame it usually doesn't come with other components so you will have to transfer them from the old frame.

@@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 Thank you very much Sir for the reply. Highly appreciated. Sadly these HP motherboards use some weird proprietary power cables, so that isn't really something you can do with ease. I agree though anything that can't use only PCIe bus power (under 75W) is going to be a problem. It's only a 320W PSU in there, too.
@optimallyobscureperformanc6264
@optimallyobscureperformanc6264 4 ай бұрын
My understanding is that molex/sata to pcie 6-pin adapters are fine as long as you don't try to max out the 6-pin power spec, in other words you'll have to remember that sata can deliver less power that a 6-pin, and select a GPU that can work within the limits of the sata power. Also, with sata to 6-pin i prefer 2xsata to 1x6-pin to distribute the load to 2 connectors, should do something to prevent them from melting. In my experience 960 with 120w TDP works fine with 2xsata to 1x6-pin. 320w PSU is also enough for the whole system, i did stress test and measure max consumption with wattage meter. Instead, if you think that converting 1xsata to 2xpcie 8-pin (for example) somehow magically increases your power budget to max amount specified by those 2x pcie 8-pin, and install a Vega64 with 300w TDP (ignoring 320w PSU limit with even lower 12volt rail limit), that's when you'll run into problems, blown PSU's, GPU's, melted sata connectors, melted cables etc. So my point is adapters are entirely fine as long as you remember you are in fact using an adapter and plan power budget accordingly. In other words, understand what you are doing and use common sense. Of course with adapters you can always be unlucky and get a super low-quality one that has a thin wire that will melt easier, even if you are careful. But that is a common problem with all electronics, not specific to this adapter stuff.
