The only thing you need is a charging system on your engine to charge your battery

I’m copying your design. Thanks for the vid. How have the components help up? I’m concerned about that speed controller. Also- have you thought about using relays to auto raise the head momentarily and then auto return the sawhead? My electronics friend is thinkin of a remote control for this

I simply bolted the motor assembly onto the carriage. You can see the bolts in the video when I first talk about the parking brake.

Nice but couldn’t you drill same holes in bunk instead of angle iron?
@kevinthemiller9003
@kevinthemiller9003 8 ай бұрын
I could have but drilling holes in the bunk would create a lot of drag when it came to rolling a log on them.

I'm not at my mill right now, looking at picking up one of the Throttle Adjusters from the link below. A video of it says there's 1" of travel, I'm vaguely remembering more travel than this - is 1" enough to go from Idle to Full Speed?
@kevinthemiller9003
@kevinthemiller9003 10 ай бұрын
This unit actually has more than enough travel. I set the cable at full throttle. When shut off there is then extra slack in the cable.

Maybe add an adjustable stop on the cut side. Something you could slide up and down the rail. For when you cut shorter material.

@kevinthemiller9003

The lift is from Amazon and the control box was a used box on eBay. The control box did not come with all the electronics. I had to build all of that.

Dude! That is awesome. I have been thinking of ways to do that to my mill. Now I know. Have you thought of making your end stop movable so if you are cutting shorter logs it doesn’t travel so far before shutting down?

Very cool. I saw another fellow who just used the toggles, but I think that your idea is better using the angle iron. It would be cool if there was a way to hook the 2 toggles together somehow so that you could throw them both with one movement. That would take some thinking. Thanks for sharing. I am going to try something similar on my 130.
@Dancing_Alone_wRentals

Imagine the clamp handle on an aluminum brake. Now imagine the two angle irons are long and the come out together. You lift with that single handle. * You make an elbow in both arms so when you lift it goes up, but when you let go, the "handle" pivots down on a joint; getting out of the way of the blade.

Very well done, Kevin. I like the throttle control and will study your video some more to see how that works. You could definitely do something commercially with your ideas as they are superior to most of the existing control systems on small bandmills. Thanks!
