Is your fingerboard just longer or are you playing a bit higher than most do. Not a bad thing but the sound you make is massive and full. Might try it out.

Thanks! Yeah the more you can play closer to the bridge, the better! But when you play in orchestra you've got to blend in and end up playing with the bow around the end of the fingerboard 😂

this could be a stupid question, but does the german bowhold allow you to play faster than the french? i see a lot of talented bassists using the german bowhold, whereas i'm learning using the french and it's really difficult for me to play fast

Hello there, no absolutely not. Bowhold doesn't affect your ability to play fast. Be patience, practice regularly and you'll see great results 👌🤗

Grazie mille! Diciamo che alla fine di quell'arpeggio in Sol maggiore viene spontaneo suonare l'ultima nota con l'armonico. Non ha senso pigiarla, solamente se la vuoi vibrare, ma è da masochisti😅😅

Avrei una domanda specifica: nelle crome veloci (le varie scalette) l'arco balza o è alla corda? Perché le note si sentono tutte e ben articolate ma non riesco a capire se l'arco balza o meno... Studio questo passo da un sacco e non riesco mai capire cosa fare perché ad alte velocità non riesco materialmente a staccare l'arco dalla corda. Grazie anticipatamente per la risposta

Ciao Marco, l'arco non lo faccio balzare sennò è impossibile controllarlo. Rimane sulla corda ed è solo la bacchetta che lavora mordendo le note, ma i crini sono aderenti. Spero di esseri stato utile!

Wonderful performance! I used to think that this symphony is playable on 4 strings. Conductors ask for lower notes or it was Berlioz original intention?

Thank you very much🙏🙏 honestly I don't remember if there is any note below E in the Symphony, but sometimes conductors ask to play a few notes or passages 1 octave lower....or sometimes it's just us playing regardless what the conductor says😅😅

@@matteogaspari1979 Berlioz’s score has an arrow down in that particular section before the bells come in. You can still play it with a regular 4 string (jump the octave), but if you have an extension or a five string, you can descend the scale as normal

I just play Allegro by W.F. Bach for a solo ensemble event, and I’m already thinking about next year. I found this piece in my book and think it would be a nice way to finish it off for my senior year ❤ beautifully done!

Is your bass tuned eadg right because I seen other double bassists have tuning like f#BEA is your just tuned EADG like in the video maestro? Also nice job at the hardest bass solo or part they say!

Thanks! Yes my bass is in normal orchestra tuning EADG. In Germany, Austria and part of Switzerland usually Bass Players are required to play audition in Solo Tuning F#BEA, that's why you've seen other videos in that particular tuning🤗
