Anyone here remember Newport in the 90s? It was better than any place in the UK I have been since. It had the best shops and clubs and venues. It was just brilliant. Remember the Lego Xmas models in the Kingsway center? How sad that it turned this way. And funny how he mentioned diversity being a good thing in Newport. No offence to anyone but that raised the crime rate to the sky.

Public transport in Bristol is shyte. The traffic is horrible. Man i travelled from one end of istanbul on a street mininus then the metro then the Marmaray train under the Bosphorus to the other end of the city in an hour and a half. I couldn't get from Bedninster to Kingswood in that time!

I grew up in the 70s in Brandlehowe Wood, near Keswick, stuck in USA now. for me as a wee lad it was a wonderland ... and now I'm told it's overrun with foreign tourists. much as I miss those mountains I don't think I could bear seeing my birthplace now 😢

Some of these places were pretty grim back in the 80s too. On average it's better now, though it might have dipped again in the last decade. When you visit though there's a lot of friendly people.

It is a crying shame what the Isle has become, and shows what greed does. Successive Governments, corrupt local authorities, and greedy ferry operators, have consistently pulled the chain on this once wonderful holiday destination, and now it is circling the bowl.
@Gazman0119693 күн бұрын
Just saying, Ventnor has Blackgang Chine the oldest Amusement Park in the UK, so for this fact alone does not deserve a spot on your list. Although, I could be being swayed by my own personal bias, given that was a favourite holiday destination of ours back in the day.
@Gazman0119693 күн бұрын
Back in the day we used to holiday there on the regular, and my heart broke when the Brading Osborn-smith's Wax Museum shut down. I knew then the Island's days were number. Such a shame!

I grew up in Minehead, quite surprised it’s on the list to be honest. I get it’s a bit out the way but I suppose that is either a plus or a minus depending on your preferences. Growing up there was, shall we interesting. Entertainment was always available in the avenue and welly kick out, usually between “red zoners” and “chavs”, local rugby boys and Butlins stag do’s, local druggies and out of town dealers etc. you get the gist.

You did absolutely no history regarding Barrow which was probably one of the most important towns in the industrial age of the UK. Let me invite YOU to an informative chat regarding Barrow if YOU are brave enough.

Going back to Sandown later this year third year in a row. Wonderful beach front choice of bars places to eat can't wait to get back. Excellent walk round to Shanklin with a fabulous beach front cafe with the best breakfasts in town. Coastal walk up top as an option, with walk to Ventnor also a a good choice. Lots of people working hard to make a living. Can't wait to get back there to support them. So much negativity on the internet, but doesn't bother me because I have a job. One Love.

I am a Swindon Resident since 2012,when i first moved here,it was a thriving town,plenty of shops which included Thats Entertainment,it was a massive store for Dvds,dvd boxsets,computor games and music,that shutdown,we had the best fish & chip shop in town,The Superfry,shutdown,we had Argos,shutdown,we had Wilkos,shutdown,inside the Brunel shopping centre was Sainsburys,shutdown,Marks & Spencers,shutdown,Poundworld,shutdown,replaced later by One Below which sell stuff way above £1.Massive unemployment since the town`s Honda factory closed down.Our local hospital Great Western,is buckling under the strain,you cant get a gp appointment even if your a lotto winner.Drugs & Prostitution,is rife,both females & males,gangs of youths rampage through the town,fighting other youths or threatening innocent members of the public,shoplifting is on the increase,just the other day i was in Greggs near the Tescos express,a girl walked in and stole in the region of £20 worth of food,picked it up and walked out,the staff are powerless,all they can do is watch,the police are absent in the town.I live in Wolcot area of Swindon,the part i live in is not too bad,but we have a high drugs problem,and gangs of youths....overal Swindon is a crap hole,its a real shame because there are decent people living here,but let down by a greedy council who does not care,its greed and power all the way for them.

Such a shame about Torquay. I have many happy memories of visiting my grandparents, who lived there from the early 1960s until 2011. I haven't been back since 2011 but a colleague spent a week there recently and "dump" was the exact word she used to describe Torquay now. So sad.
