Oh hell no little buddy. I was in the theater in 1977. It was just “Star Wars” no flipping “A New Hope” no Episode number. You please need to correct that stuff bud!! 0:04

When I was a kid my pops would take us to the dirt track at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds to watch the "roundy-rounds." Back then it was mostly non winged sprint cars. I remember going down to the north end of the grandstand and you could look over the side right into the pits. There were so many different car hauler setups like this model and I liked looking at those rigs as much as I did the race cars. I remember you could tell what the drivers did for a living by looking at their trucks. Plumbers, carpenters, electricians, dirt moving guys and concrete men. I loved this era because a man could earn enough to raise a family with a mom at home and still be able to have enough money to go racing on Friday night.

This is awesome I’m in the USA on Vacation for the 1st time in 9 years and this along with a few other kits is in my luggage for the trip back home. Hobby Lobby 40% off means I saved hundreds of £/$ on what these would cost me back home and that’s assuming I could source them Awesome build again Chris and can’t wait to get mine onto the bench
@TheSaturnV3 сағат бұрын
Awesome. So did you pick up this exact kit at Hobby Lobby within the last few days? I may have to go check mine out, what part of the country did you pick it up?

I always enjoy these weathered vehicle projects and the themes you come up with as you build them. Most of the Gulf liveried builds I see tend to be in pristine condition so it's nice to see one that's worked hard and a bit worse for wear.

Scenes like at 12:00, you should vertically flip the video. If it doesn't make everything backwards that is.

Hi Chris, the pick-up looks absolutely fantastic, it looks as if it has had a very full work life, the trailer looks great as well, congratulations on a job very well done, best regards from Australia, Les

My Uncle had a 53 Ford flathead Farm truck and hauled hay and pulled a horse trailer too. He liked it so much he bought my Aunt a 54 Mercury Monterey 3 row seating woody wagon flathead. She drove us to Rushmore, the Pacific Ocean and Chicago in that wagon (4 adults and 4 kids. I dig the weathering on this. His looked that way in 56, he used it so much. Thanks for another fun build, Chris!

Absolutely fantastic, you really have an impeccable eye for colour. But isn't the steering wheel a little too high (comparing to reference pictures) so it would be difficult to drive even?

Yes it does. It makes for a good engine swap for a custom/hot rod. I'm building the same kit as I watch this video. I'm going to put a Revell 30 Ford coupe on the trailer. Thanks for sharing.

I JUST finished this kit and was fun but trucks for me in general usually are meh and the instructions I wish had a few more steps to go into depth more and went thru the manual 1000x's ..Loved assembling and painting the trailer. Bought 8 spoke rims from Pegasus and put them on the trailer and truck to give it the low rider look and painted it baby blue with chrome accents. messed up on the rear bumper bracket/trimming a little too much of frame rear but came out great! Made for a display model for my most recent builds. need to make a little diorama and case some day...Thanks for another awesome video you've been a HUGE inspiration of getting back into the hobby!

Hey Chris....I know this was four years ago and with all the work that you've done since then probably don't recall, that is....if you even see this after all this time. But the only thing I didn't get from the video of the 1942 Plymouth Coupe Hot Rod 1/25 Scale Kit that you weathered, was what the wash that you dry brushed at the end of the session? It's some sort of white, I'm assuming an acrylic, because you were working it with your hands to blend it. Thanks for all the videos, because of you I've searched out many of the kits that line the walls in the shop. Denny G, Sandwich, IL

White wash? I'm not sure, was I dry brushing it? That would be cheap craft paint, acrylic, from any store like Hobby Lobby.

my first model was a 1980's Honda prelude, I was 23 years old and just got out of the military. The model helped me overcome a lot of post military issues. I have been out of the hobby since mid 90's but I just bought a few to start back up. Definitely going to rebuilt it to see if it would be any easier. love seeing your builds.

I was hoping you would build this one. The Celica has always been one of my favorite cars and this is one like no other. First saw this kit in a leaflet advertising Tamiya's range that came with my first Tamiya kit when I was 11 years old, and the 20th scale should be something different. I also remember those old motorized kits from that early '80s period, but what was impressive about Tamiya was despite the simplified elements to include the motor the kits were still quite well detailed.
