Smart, but old school . From dead AC converted to DC only works if the battery still has voltage. DC requires real DC to jump start the convention . Once started , remove the other battery and it will most of the time come back. Depending on the sale quality.

If they are in parallel and your cables are ok it doesnt matter which battery is attached to the charger. But it is easier for removing the good battery after a few min. You could also just use a classic charger
