For quick transmissions yes. But you need to learn how to program the radio to lessen the chance of someone hearing you or jamming/hot mic’ing you
@manuelquelle9915Күн бұрын
@@The_Outdoorsman Would you say getting the technician license would help with learning that? Or is there somewhere online I can find a guide that would show me step by step how to do all of it from home?
@The_OutdoorsmanКүн бұрын
Ham licenses are in my opinion very stupid. You just need to learn. It’s not hard, I didn’t know anything about programming radios, I learned by trial and error. That’s what I’ll suggest to to you. You’ll be better off!!
@manuelquelle991511 сағат бұрын
@@The_Outdoorsman Any guides? Online resources or study guides you can point me to? Like pretend I don’t know shit about a HAM radio 😂
@The_Outdoorsman11 сағат бұрын
Brother, when I first got into this I didn’t know shit either 😂. I wish there was a guide i could show you, but I didn’t use one, I literally just figured it out. You can too. I will say that CHIRP is the program you want to get. It’s free. And it will allow you to program the radio from your computer.

Which flag, I have two. In the beginning of the video it is on MY left. Not necessarily yours. The other flag the stars are on the right facing the camera, but on the left walking out of the building. It’s all perspective bud. But thanks for watching. Next video the flags will be upside down.

For the pack hanging cord, you could save some time (and paracord) by tying alpine butterfly knots in the cord to make loops. To make the sling more comfortable, after tying the bowline around the forearm, go under the armpit and then up the back and over the shoulder to the other side of the body. Then tie the paracord to the wrist. This way you will not have so much pressure on the neck. Good video and excellent tips. A knot tutorial sounds like a good idea.

Not sure i would say walmart tents are just as good. They are cheaply made and do not handle weather well. I would suggest people look ip reviews on tents befor buying. This is a decent car camping kit. Would not carry a lot of this on a true hike and camp.
@The_OutdoorsmanАй бұрын
Appreciate the info. This is a video for the beginner. You can’t expect someone who’s trying it out to purchase a 600$ tent. We’re not Tommy from parks and rec here 😂. And the load out I have in this video is what I take on all my overnight adventures. Lots to be posted here so you’ll see it for sure!!
@JasonSandlinАй бұрын
@The_Outdoorsman I agree bit they need to do some research. You can get affordable tents that work Walmarts outdoor line are not good. A bad tent can run new campers off. I tend to try and go light and most of my stuff is budget and second hand. Nice video though. Although I never carry a fire arm myself. Not much reason in the south. Black bears r lun away and I walk around snakes. LOL not much need for one. (I'm not anti gun mind you. I have a few. Just don't carry on long hikes.)

@The_OutdoorsmanАй бұрын
Well I’m certainly not an expert. I will say radios that will handle encrypted comms are about 25,000 each with a network. So stick with the radios I have here and just tinker around with stuff. That’s all I did, mucked with it till I figured it out.

Why the hell would I need a firearm going camping? You must do a full lenght video about that topic. :)
@The_OutdoorsmanАй бұрын
Well since my definition of camping is far into the wilderness a firearm is essential. Protection against predators, it’s also a signaling device as well as in my case having extra flashlights and if I’m running one of my AR’s, IR LUM or IR designator which can be easily seen at night from any search and rescue professional
@nia79niaАй бұрын
I think it is because you live in the US you even consider bringing a firearm to the wild. But I would not class that as an essential beginners camping gear. But I think you make alot of viewers laugh when you pull up a gun like that and that is good also. In my country I have to stick with bearspray :)
@The_OutdoorsmanАй бұрын
In the video I say that it's something I bring, not something I recommend people bring. But to each their own. In my country it's your right to own one, and I don't take my rights lightly. I hope you subscribed to the channel! thanks for watching.

When this radio was released most people (hams) did not like it, but I think the battery life alone makes it worth, even if it is a simple "UV 5R" hardware. Getting a radio with spare batteries probably cost more.

I have an M17 as well - 2000+ rounds through it with nothing other then user induced double feeds. The slide catching and not going into battery is 100% a "break in" issue, mine and countless other videos Ive seen have had the same problem. Im running a Leupold Delta Point pro as well as the same light, Streamlight TRL1 HL. I just ordered a threaded barrel and I intend to order a compensator as well soon - other then that, I need a trigger upgrade and I would like to change out the grip module. Im just a dude who sits at home and plays games, I bought firearms for home defense really but I love working on and upgrading my weapons - provided the upgrades are practical and increase the performance and use.
