Hi mate. What does changing the offset bias do? A guy on Reddit mentioned he only changed the sharpening.
@DDFRacer6 сағат бұрын
From my understanding, the offset bias affects the distance at which the sharpening takes effect. In this instance with my settings mentioned in the video, objects that are closer have slightly less sharpening applied since it's already pretty clear in your vision, however objects that take up less space on the screen because they're further away will receive more of the sharpening effect. Here's a more technical explanation from the forums: Offset (0.0->6.0, default 1.0) - the offset from the current pixel for the sampling pattern (so if it's 1 it will sample neighbouring pixels, any less and it will bias towards the central pixel, any more and it will start sampling pixels outside the normal kernel).

I don't know if it's just my American ear shorting out on British pronunciation or it's a rally term I'm unfamiliar with, but what is "supu"? (Example at about 4:50 but the word is scattered all over the pace notes apparently.) I should add that otherwise these sound awesome and I think I am downloading them as soon as I get home. I can understand everything else really clearly.
@DDFRacer2 күн бұрын
You're not the first to be caught out by that word, it definitely got my attention too and needed a bit of research before recording so I could understand the context! It's "Summpu" which is a Finnish word and doesn't really have a direct single word translation into English, although at a stretch I guess "Tightens" or "Caution" would suffice, although not exactly. It's basically a warning that you can't go full attack and take the usual line through a corner to run it wide on exit, either due to a hazard which might not be obvious at first or because you need to keep the car within the limit of grip to be able to react. Hope this helps 👍

@DDFRacer2 күн бұрын
Those are the kind of notes that can really make a difference 😉 if there is some more time to gain by pushing a little bit extra (where it is safe, of course) then a "be brave" call is the right thing to add. Same for corners which always cause problems, an extra "caution" or "remember" can be the difference between a stage time or not. I really love the ability to add/edit pace notes in Richard Burns Rally, it takes all of the guesswork and interpretation out of driving 👍 and is also what the real drivers/co-drivers would do, tweaking their pacenotes to suit the stage and driving style.
@customlinux78136 күн бұрын
good job! But i want to say, in rbrpro2 launcher people can choose russian co-driver, and this one has a bonus words and bonus explains. for example - 3 right and after HOUSE 4 left. i want to say, if you add in ddf co-driver bonus explains like after HOUSE or after TREE, your co-driver will be best in the world! Your English is good 😎 don't worry about it! The words you mentioned (house, tree, post and many more) are all available in the pace notes editor 👍 I recorded the audio for these however not all stages use them by default. Luppis pace notes tend to focus mostly on the corner radius and distance instead of going into more detail with roadside objects, but they can be added in very easily using the editor if those details are required.

It depends on what you've been using previously 🤔 if you can afford it then I'd definitely recommend 8Nm though, that's what I've been using for a few years now and I love it. I don't feel the need for it to be any stronger but it's more than enough force to be able to give you all the smaller details too. With 5Nm you'll still have the same information coming through but it'll be harder to notice the really subtle stuff that helps you find the limit of grip more easily.

Obviously it looks grainy when your VR output resolution is limited to 1080×1200 pixels per eye.. almost just half of what the quest 2 has. Also, it looks like you're using an upscaler? Have you tried applying SS instead?
@DDFRacer7 күн бұрын
I would agree, but I have a pretty solid reference point compared to other games I run in VR such as iRacing, AMS2, Assetto Corsa and so on. All of these look significantly better on the same headset so I'm making a direct comparison between them, not just looking at EA WRC in isolation, and unfortunately it just doesn't look that great at all. For sure a more modern headset would have better clarity but this suck up a lot more processing power due to the extra pixels and would mean even lower graphics settings to compensate. As for upscaling, nothing enabled as far as I'm aware and running supersampling at 125% 👍 any more than that and I start dropping a lot of frames.

Older VR headsets also have lower resolution so more performance, I have a 3070ti with Quest 3, it is barely playable for me unfortunately, I have a old HTC Vive, i'm really tempted to trying it to see if I get better performance. I don't like how Meta/Oculus handle PCVR. I really notice latency on the Quest 3 no matter the game.
@DDFRacer14 күн бұрын
I've been considering an upgrade for a long time now but whenever I do my research, all roads lead back to the CV1. I know it's old and it's got a low resolution compared to more modern headsets but things like charging cable issues, increased latency, no built in solutions to pin windows inside VR, increased godrays, less dark blacks etc...they all put me off. It's hard trying to find something that (clarity aside) is genuinely worth upgrading to that isn't going to absolutely bankrupt me or melt my computer 😅 All I need is a headset that plugs in directly (I don't need or use wireless) and has a decent image quality with the ability to pin my live chat and a basic HUD inside VR. Crazy to think that one of the best solutions is still one of the very first solutions from over 8 years ago.

@DDFRacer16 күн бұрын
It's an interesting point you make since the quality of racing with the AI can be significantly better than dealing with rookies at times 😅 however that's not necessarily always a good thing. Sure the AI will make mistakes but they won't make 'bad' decisions like an awful rejoin or a move that was clearly not on. It might be frustrating at the time to be taken out in rookies but it's invaluable experience for anticipating the actions of others, these situations only make you a better driver in the long run provided you look at the replay, see how things could have happened differently and learn from the experience 👍

It's fairly easy to change. Just have to replace the sumppu1.ogg sound with something else. But which English word would you use?
@kristian270023 күн бұрын
@@benofficial2I think "sumppu" means "narrows" or"narrowing". I can't remember the word being used in Luppis v2, but maybe I'm mistaking? Or maybe it is simply a generic rally term (that happens to be of finnish origin). Anyway, as the plebeian that I am, I think I would like the codriver speaking in only one language :-)
@ursinesaturn672323 күн бұрын
I don't think there is an equivalent in Luppis V2. Summpu essentially translates as "bottleneck" but I prefer the Finnish word and hasn't taken me too long to get used to it
@DDFRacer23 күн бұрын
Not going to lie, the Sumppu call caught me off guard at first, especially with Nicky's accent 😅 after every call I'd be like "where poo?" because, of course, I'm a child like that. I thought about replacing it with an English word also but, same as Ursine Saturn, it became familiar to me quite quickly and it's nice short word which gets the point across very quickly. The way I interpret Sumppu is basically "take it easy through the mid corner and don't go out wide on exit, because" which can be different to "narrows" or "caution". Narrows is when the road becomes smaller, caution is for an object or hazard whereas sumppu lets you know that a conventional line probably isn't a good idea, better to take it at about 90% instead of maximising the road. You could always lower the corner number from a 4 to 3 example, but then that might lead you to believe the radius of the corner is tighter than it actually is.

@DDFRacer23 күн бұрын
I would agree with you if I'd have recorded this footage physically through the lense but this is a direct capture from the game on my desktop monitor. If anything, running a CV1 would actually mean _better_ performance since I'm running at a lower resolution than more modern headsets and pushing less pixels through my GPU. What you're looking at is the image that EA WRC generates regardless of which headset is being used, the lower resolution is only something I can see inside my CV1 and my increased supersampling because of the extra headroom would have definitely cancelled that out on the recording. This is definitely a fair representation of what the game looks like 👍
