Quite lovely. Harkens back to the times of Debussy. A simpler, more pastoral time.

Absolutely beautiful! Still exploring his works, have yet to hear either of his Oratorios. He seems to be most comparable to Myslivecek, Dittersdorf, M. Haydn, J.C. Bach, etc. Mozart is a hard mark to hit for any late Baroque, Classical or early Romantic composer in my humble opinion. Nonetheless, this work is so enjoyable, and I can't wait to hear more of Rosetti's works. Thank you so much for making this gem available! Cheers!

I have the Orphée edition, without the second movement. Are there two different versions of the Concerto? (By the way, this second movement is beautiful)
@RobertoPintos8 күн бұрын
I know that there is a modern edition made in the 60s (if I remember correctly, it is from 1964). If that edition includes changes, I don't know. Thank you very much for your interest.

@@RobertoPintos Dear Roberto, thank you for your answer. In the mean time, I did some research, the starting point being the beautiful tune of the second movement, that I must say, reminded me of something. In fact, I searched in my guitar duets of Lhoyer and I discovered that the second movement of the guitar duet op.31 n.1 is the original source of this II movement of the concerto. Then I went on the site of the edition of the score and this is the story: the original guitar concerto has only two movements, the conductor has added the second adagio movement orchestrating the above mentioned piece.

Muchas gracias.

Heard this yesterday at OSESP in São Paulo Brazil , executed by univerity orchestra and a professor Luiz Amato playing violin solo beautifully! They made a door for the knocking part. it was the graduation of a regency class of a student. He brought this score from Russia.

Came here because of a podcast on the ancient Sumerians. Very interesting and timeless music. I'm a little surprised at how sophisticated it actually is. I can only imagine the work that must've gone into recreating this. Really appreciate this journey back I time.

Thank you very much for your message, Aaron. At some point (somewhere further down, in this video) I explained my relationship to this material. It was in the mid-80s when I was studying at the Conservatory. History class was very interesting. We always listened to very old and absolutely unknown pieces. One day the teacher said that there was an important discovery of plans and papyri with instructions on the construction of very ancient instruments (about 4000 years old), and that there were also instructions on a musical writing system from that time. According to experts, the reconstruction of the material would take between 15 and 20 years. Time passed, and in the early 2000s I managed to get this material recorded and performed in the most serious way. I'm glad to know you appreciated it.

This is a great work to add to the ouvre of clarinet concertos. The rhythmic interplay between clarinet and orchestra are enjoyable. In a way this clarinet concerto picks up where the Carl Nielson Concerto leaves off. Great performance and recording. This important music.

This has a driving force to it. Written in 1935 and sounds completely appropriate fot the time. Its quite lyrical. Skillfully crafted for Cello and expert orchestration . I really enjoy this. A virtuoso piece to be sure. Definitely hus iwn style. What a find !

Stanley Bate is an important Composer. Distinctly British this is not pleasant pastoral music. There is no rational reason Stanley Bate is not performed in the concert hall or more recordings if his music. This great music. A fabulous Viola Concerto so expressive. Modern but so tonal. Strong music. I love Bate's music. I've been listening to Classical music since 1972. Only in 2024 i discover him ! It ain't me at fault. Classical music stations have a certain narrow playlist. Music like this might get played at 4am when everyone is asleep. Shame on them.
